What would you do? BBT

So I take my BBT at 7am every day. This morning my partner took the dog out at 5.30am which woke me up. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep so I took my BBT then which was 36.62c. I did end up going back to sleep and at 7am woke up and did my BBT again which was 36.91c. I didn’t go on my phone or get up or talk or do anything when I woke up at 5.30am; literally just lay there trying to get back to sleep!!

Which do you think is more accurate? Is there that much difference in taking it 1hr 30mins later? It wouldn’t normally be an issue - but the 2 temps will either confirm ovulation or put it in to question so trying not to kid myself 😂 I had a dip yesterday on what I think was 3DPO but I woke up 30mins earlier than usual yesterday (I’m normally bang on 7am with all my other temps - it’s just been the last 2 days typically) now wondering if yesterdays dip was due to that, rather than anything else, but as I knew I couldn’t get back to sleep yday - I just assumed my BBT wouldn’t change depending on the time I take it as long as it’s as soon as I’ve woken up… is that wrong?!

Thanks for reading!! Xx

@HayMay ha yes that assumption was wrong as bbt changes roughly by 0.1C per hour. So if I were you I'd either stick with your 7am temp or use a bbt temp adjuster (that will most likely give you 36.77ish). Either way your ovulation has been confirmed and it's not super important which one of those two it is.

That Is so helpful! I had no idea re the bbt hourly changes.. wow!!

Thank you. When I put the 36.62c in on FF it took away the crossbars as to suggest I hadn't ovulated but using the 36.91 it puts them in - hence my dilemma! Interestingly, I bet yesterdays dip wasn't as large as plotted on the graph in that case (due to me waking up earlier than normal too without realising the impact).

Thanks for your help and reassurance x
