Has anyone recently been referred in the NHS for the fertility clinic? How long was the waiting time? I’m in Surrey Heartlands area.

I’m in Bristol but was referred 18th January and have our first appointment on Tuesday. However we didn’t have to try for a year or 2 then have any investigations or anything as I am in the criteria of getting to go straight to referral so possibly got all the paperwork etc through faster

Hi @Alexis7890 that’s great. I’m a little bit like that - referred due to PCO and no ovulation. Where are you in your journey??

I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago, I don’t have periods naturally, one a year is the maximum really so we got referred straight away because of that. We got only got married back in October and so really early in the journey! Spoke to GP in January and both had blood tests then she referred us immediately. First consultant appointment on Tuesday, I have no idea what to expect! How about you?

I'm in the North West and was referred in September and told 4-6 months. We paid privately- it was about £400. Well worth it for us after 3 years of trying and miscarrying.

I don’t really have periods either. We’ve both had all of the blood tests and SA. Just waiting for the consultant appointment, but I’ve been put on metformin for the time being. Hope Tuesday goes well!

The metformin might be what you need! Our GP said she wasn’t allowed to prescribe what she thinks we need (clomid) so just have to wait and see what happens with the consultant. Hopefully you get your appointment soon!!

@Wisemensay sorry to hear about your MCs. what did the £400 include? I’m in hope that clomid will do the trick for me so it’s frustrating to be waiting!

NHS Scotland (Glasgow) referred in Oct 2021, seen Feb 2022 for first time. Unfortunately despite obvious ovulation issues (extremely long cycles), GP would not refer until 1 year TTC, which meant 1 yes 9mo trying overall before referral as conceived at one stage then miscarried

TheDaydreamBelievers · 13/02/2022 09:30

Should note we also paid privately for testing, otherwise I'd be waiting for more tests at the moment (semen analysis, AMH, pelvic ultrasound, hycosy)

Wisemensay · 13/02/2022 09:37

@Saraht1991 I had a really detailed ultrasound - told me so much more than NHS ones ever had - and blood tests which checked AMH, hormone levels etc. DH also had sperm count checked. I'd already had some tests on NHS for the miscarriages which didn't show anything.
