So been ttc for a year now and sadly nothing has happened. Went to the docs who have sent me for blood test. My serum TSH level has come back at 5.8 however the rest came back fine, so not sure if that’s why struggling to get pregnant. I also have irregular period. I came off the pill last year and for quite a while my body was all over the shop with hormonal symptom. Was just wondering if anyone else has experiences of ttc and thyroid issues.

High TSH is meant to affect fertility but luckily levothyroxine will sort you out quickly! Has the GP said anything about referring you to and endocrinologist? Not sure if it affects your periods though - what were your other results like and how irregular is your period?

I'm waiting for my appointment to discuss what the plan is! My other results were all fine it was just my serum TSH that was abnormal. My cycles vary between 29 days to 35 days, each month is different. I never really paid attention to them before when I was on pill so not sure if I have always been irregular or it has been this way since coming off pill

I started ttc in May 2021, went to doc and my tsh level was 6.5, i pushed to be put on levothroyxine then and there, 6 weeks later it was down to 4.5 so again, pushed for my dosage to be upped from 25mg to 50mg, got my BFP a few weeks after that and was upped to 75mg and I am 30 weeks pregnant tomorrow! Tsh level is staying around 2 and could have been a massive coincidence but definitely think sorting out my TSH level was a massive contributor getting my BFP! They weren’t going to put me on medication and told me to ‘see how ttc goes without it’ but I was adamant i wanted to get it down under 2! Xx

Possibly would be due to you getting your TSH levels sorted. I've read about best to conceive is around 2.5 and anything higher isn't good. Not sure if that means you can't get pregnant or it's not healthy to get pregnant when it's high

Got diagnosed with an underactive thyroid roughly about 8 or 9 years ago, been on levothyroxine (125mg per day) for roughly 3 years. I have not noticed any difference.

Been trying to conserve for well over 10years now with no success (can't get medical investigation or help cause of my high bmi)

Also I have insulin resistant PCOS which has massive impact too, I take metaformin (1500mg) for over a year now, again not noticed any difference.

I did a lot of research my self and take a longgggggg list of supplements for the last 6months and the past 4-5 cycles have actually became 'regular' (a window of 32-40days, instead of 40-110days).
