TTC after miscarriage

Hi all,

I hope you are all well. I unfortunately have suffered with a missed miscarriage which I found out about at my 12 weeks scan. The baby stopped growing around 7 weeks. I opted for medical management which was unsuccessful. I then had to have surgical management and had an ERPC. This was last Thursday (03.02.22) I have been told to do a pregnancy test in three weeks time. My husband and I do want to try again quite soon. How long do you think I have to wait to get my period? Or could I start trying as soon as I have a negative test?

Thanks in advance x

Hi, sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I was supposed to have my 12 week scan on Monday but I miscarried a week before. I too started to think about when to try again and everything I’ve seen has said as long as symptoms of miscarriage have stopped and you have a negative test you can start trying x

I'm so sorry OP, it's such a horrible thing to go through.

I found out I had had a mmc at 7.5 weeks. I did medical management and bled for about 10 days. I got my first negative pregnancy test today (almost 3 weeks post miscarriage) and I think my LH surge is coming (I've been testing daily and it's getting darker).
I've heard you're more fertile after a miscarriage and I'm really keen to get pregnant again so don't want to wait for my first AF before trying.

I was told to wait 3 months. I don't know if it still stands but found it useful.

I've had two MMC in the last 14 months unfortunately. The guidance for me was to try the cycle after your first proper period (took 5 weeks the first time and 3 weeks the second I believe) because if you've had surgical management your uterine lining needs more time to rebuild.

Sorry for your loss. I had a mmc and surgical management in April 2019.

You need to wait until the bleeding has stopped completely to avoid an infection.

Good luck! I conceived again after another 8 months of trying and my dd is now 17 months old.

Hi,

I have done an early pregnancy test after a surgical miscarriage. Would you say this is still showing as a faint positive?

Thanks x
