Positive OPK 5DPO????

Hi I wondered if anyone else has experienced a second positive OPK or knows why I would be getting such a strong positive at this point (5DPO).
I tested with OPK strips and also decided to try out the clear blue digital ones this cycle. The solid smile face (meaning peak) coincided with the OPK strips turning positive so I thought awesome, double confirmation. I kept testing with OPK strips for my app and as normal (for me) the lines fluctuate abit from faint to dark till AF shows…but has never gone as dark as the control line before, not to say it couldn’t which im hoping is the case, but i can’t help thinking does this mean I didn’t ovulate then but I am now? (Which would mean we’ve missed our window this month as my partners away). I know we can ovulate twice but I always thought if that happens it would be at the same time, Is it possible to ovulate twice so many days apart?

I guess the test took me by surprise has anyone had this and still got pregnant? Wondering if I’m out this month

Thanks ☺️

Hello @Gigi88 is there any chance that you could be pregnant and conceived earlier than you thought? Sometimes opks can be positive if you’re pregnant but 5DPO would be too early.

Also sometimes our body’s try to ovulate so we get a positive opk because of the LH surge but then it fails to actually ovulate so then our body will try again and we get another LH surge followed by ovulation. This could have happened.

A way to tell it you actually did ovulate following your LH surge is to take your temps using a BBT thermometer. I’ve started that this cycle so I can confirm ovulation as the strips only confirm the LH surge that usually happens before ovulation but doesn’t actually confirm ovulation.

Do you have a photo of the opk?

Good luck for this cycle I hope you did catch it Smile

But confused what you mean by they fluctuate until AF? They should go back to neg after your LH surge (well it won’t ever be totally neg but very faint line after you’ve had your dark line for one/two days)

If you mean that you’ve had a dark line then it’s reduced down after your surge and now you’re testing super dark again then I’d guess at either

Double ovulation (or the first ovulation didn’t happen - you got the surge but the egg didn’t release and body is having another go)

Pregnancy

If you’re not successful this month you could try measuring basal temperature - this is really the only way to confirm ovulation (other than a scan) because although the OPKs measure the surge, it doesn’t guarantee you’ve ovulated. A temperature rise would though

Good luck!

@Newbiemg hey thanks for your response. Turns out dr thinks I may have PCOS which explains why my LH goes up and down. I get high tests (positive) and then they dip and go back up again. And aparently it's also normal to have a high opk just before At starts to.

Funny u messaged this month actually I've been getting an extra amount of positive opks last days in a row and I've added a picture below.

Took an IC and then frer to confirm which was unfortunately negative probably means false positive on the IC but I'm hoping that isn't the case fx

Dang this TTC business is a rollercoaster isn't it 4years in fx it isn't a false one :) xxxx
