here?

Not sure I believe it to be true, but It can't harm to have a go surely?

And before the comment is made I WOULD LOVE ANOTHER SON JUST AS MUCH AS A DAUGHTER

But it would take the pressure off to have a girl! lol

babydust333 · 30/12/2007 17:50

I have not read the book but would love to know more about it, part of me knows its old wifes tales but wouldnt stop me trying! i would love a girl x but same old cliche as long as its healthy . . .

scorpio1 · 30/12/2007 18:21

i did everything that you are supposed to do to 'get' a boy, im pg with a dd.

was not trying to have either gender btw, just know that having regular sex on ov day etc is supposed to mean a boy.

I'm so chuffed im having a dd!

babydust333 · 30/12/2007 18:24

I had sex everyday for 4 days just before i ov and then once about 2 days after ov ( thats if i ovulated when i thought i did) as husband was working away when i actually ov so maybe i will have a girl!

I have bought choose the sex of your baby by Hazel Chesterman Phillips. It seems to make a lot of sense and my mum swears a similar theory (along Shettles lines) worked for her (girl, then boy) although things like sperm count can affect it too. it makes some sort of sense to me although I am too impatient to chart my temps for months in advance! The book linked looks a bit American for my tastes; I would recommend Hazel as it's pretty easy to read.

SazzaK · 30/12/2007 21:55

Just thought I'd post again as I just noticed the reader review of that book on the link says it's mostly about scientifically assisted procedures - again the book I've bought is about timing sex and all that rather than sperm-spinning! Wondered how they got to 99.9! I liked your comment about taking the pressure off - thrilled to have a sister for my little girl but know exactly what you mean.

Tigger13 · 30/12/2007 22:08

I have also read the Hazel book several times and am now pg with my 3rd, was trying to swing for a girl have 20week scan in 2wks so will see!!!! I couldn't get that hvaing sex away from ovulation would mean fertilisation at all, but did the deed on a friday lucnhtime and got +LH surge on the sunday so think concieved on Monday. Know DS2 was concived on ovulation day as also using ovulation sticks.

Just happy to be pg but books interesting to read, and i got pg 2nd month where's took 7 last time!

Have fun!

Nah. You get what you get. Don't waste your money unless it's just going to be a little bit of fun.

I think the only method that can be used with any hope of getting accruate results is the Shettles method.

Using shettles to get a boy though can take a long time, it's easier if you are after a girl.

...awaiting comments as mentioned in OP!

We did all the things to get a girl 2nd time around but it was a boy anyway. I didn't mind at all - it's just that having the luxury of conceiving '1st time' with ds1 we thought we'd try to load the dice in favour of the opposite sex for no.2. But ds2 had other ideas!

SazzaK · 31/12/2007 11:22

I think (from reading Hazel) it is heavily Shettles-based so basically the same theory about quick Y sperms and slow and hardy X sperms. But all the temping is a bit of a nightmare!

KittyLetteItSnow · 01/01/2008 10:49

Thanks girls,

Ill try that other book and read up on shettles. Like I said its worth a go isnt it?

By pressure I menat I have 2 sons and would like a daughter Im not convinced Ill ever want 4 children so if I had a girl next it means that the pressure will be off and I can make a descision in the future (about more than 3 kids) based purely on my feelings at the time rather than the pressure of feeling like I need to try again for a daughter, IYKWIM.

well we did the all the supposed theories to have a boy both times and have 2 ......daughters good job my dh doesnt mind pink

KittyLetteItSnow · 01/01/2008 12:51

LOL, guess its just down to chance then.

I mean you could do everything to have a boy and have one - then be convinced its because you followed the steps but in reality its a 50/50 chance anyways isn't it!?!
