Confused

Hi, I fell pregnant in November and suffered a miscarriage last week at 10 weeks pregnant. I am absolutely heartbroken. I am 37 and I have 2 children aged 9 and 7. This pregnancy wasn’t planned and after the initial shock I was very happy. Now all I can think about is trying again. I’m not sure if I’m too old, hence the miscarriage or if the odds are that I will carry a healthy baby. Any advice?

I'm 41 and TTC from next month...ive known a few people who have carried to full term and had healthy pregnancies. My mum had her last child at 43.

Yes it can be more difficult the older you get but there is an increase in women 40+ having babies

Thanks @CherylPorter350, I feel like my body has let the baby down and it’s because of my age. I need to remember plenty of women have babies into their 40’s. I had no problems with my first babies at 27 and 30 and naively expected the same this time 😔

@nik84 I had a missed miscarriage in my early 20s and racked my brain trying to figure out what I did wrong. The truth is I didn't do anything wrong, unfortunately some pregnancies aren't meant to go on. It can happen at any age so please try not to blame yourself. I went on, 10 years later, to have two babies within 11 months, no problems at all. One loss doesn't necessarily mean another.

Try and be kind to yourself in all this, you've been through a lot ❤️
