Hello.
I am 40yo and found out I’m pregnant. I have one little boy. I had a m/c in 2019 and a molar pregnancy in 2020.
I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant and went for HCG bloods today and was meant to go back in 48hrs to check for an increase in levels. However the nurse has rang me to say that todays levels are 3,286 and rather than go back for bloods in 48h they now want to scan me on Friday afternoon. I’m a bit anxious now. She told me not to worry but also didn’t offer me a great deal of reassurance. Can anyone help? Tia xx

There is enough HCG to see ‘something’ on a scan, even if it is just a sac. I imagine they are just wanting to confirm the pregnancy is in the uterus. You are not in the grey area of low HCG levels so repeating bloods isn’t really going to tell them anything that a scan won’t.

People only tend to have bloods repeated if they have very low levels and they just need to confirm a progressing pregnancy- at 3000+, you are very much pregnant.

It'll also be in case you have another molar pregnancy. The scan is probably more important than your levels given your history.

3286 is excellent. Best of luck. Maybe get this moved to conception?
