False Positive Ovulation test?

Good Morning

I am looking for some thoughts.

So firstly yesterday I started a 3 day course of anti biotics (macrobid) for a UTI. I was ensured this shouldn't affect anything whilst TTC.

Now onto testing, I began testing on Monday 2 days after my period ended. I began getting the flashing smiley on the clearblue digital test on Tuesday and obviously negative on the strip tests.

Yesterday I got a flashing smiley again on the digital however the strip tests was quite dark, not darker than the control line but almost the same colour.

This morning I have now got a static smiley on the clearblue digital however the strip test is quite faint now. I did a second strip test to check and this was a bit darker this time but still not as dark as yesterday.

Do we think the clearblue could be a false positive?

This is only my 3rd cycle TTC after coming off the pill the first 2 cycles I have ovulated quite late around CD16 if this test is positive then I'll be ovulating on CD14

Let me know your thoughts!

Sorry i also forgot to add i wondered whether the antibiotics might be affecting the strip test accuracy as my wee is dyed bright yellow and so the strip is also bright yellow all the way across whereas normally its white with just the two lines

Odds are you just missed the peak overnight with the strip. I'd BD for the next 2-3 days on the assumption it's correct.

For extra comfort you could carry on testing with the cheap strips for another couple of days to make sure you don't miss a second surge.

Did you tell your GP you're TTC btw? Normally you're asked to abstain the cycle you take UTI antibiotics.

Yes I advised my GP of TTC and nothing was mentioned regarding refraining from TTC

Thanks for the advice I will carry on as normal going off the digital being positive and carry on using the test strips over the next few days
