First appointment- what to expect

Myself and dh have been trying for a baby for almost 2 years. I'm 37 and he's 35.

I have never been pregnant. We've had tests done through the NHS and are now getting nowhere fast- everything came back fine on both sides so diagnosed with unexplained infertility Confused

The next stage is for them to fob me off give me chlomid which I don't get as Im ovulating so we have booked an appointment with a private clinic for a few weeks time.

I don't know what to expect at a first appointment, can anyone help at all? Or anyone who has been in my position and found something that worked?

I feel so sad at the moment and feel like it's never going to happen for us. It breaks my heart every day. Im also scared of spending lots of money with no guarantee we will be successful.

Guess I just need to hear some positive stories of ladies who have been in my position to cheer me up and remind me not to give up x x

Hi I'm sorry you're in this position. I'm not far off though as have been trying for about 14 months (possibly longer, as have now lost count!). I'm 36 going on 37, so similar age to you. We've also had tests done through the NHS (bloods and SA). I'm having an ultrasound next week. I've been referred to the NHS fertility clinic since August last year and still waiting for a first appointment. So we've decided to go private this year and have an appointment next week. I'm also not sure what to expect so hope it's ok if I join in the conversation to get some tips/success stories from other lovely ladies on MN.
When is your appointment? Is it quite soon? Have you already had a hycosy/HSG done as I think this is the next step for me.

Also, I agree with clomid, they seem to prescribe it even if you ovulate fine, just as a standard tick box exercise. I'm also not to keen to take it as I know I ovulate regularly and don't have any issues with my cycles/hormones.

Hey love, sorry to hear you are going through the same Sad Yes please do join x x

Yeah I've had HSG and tubes were fine. Also had ultrasounds, bloods done, swabs, partners sperm been checked. I'm waiting on chlomid but it's taking so long and I've been chasing the hospital and getting nowhere, and I feel so torn about taking it anyway.

My private app is a few weeks away so sounds like yours will be first. Just want to get a second opinion initially and go from there
