How we increased DH's morphology and sperm count with supplements 📈

Decaffe · 24/01/2022 16:59

In September, DH had his sperm tested and his morphology was low at 2% (normal should be more than 4%). Well, four months on and he has been re-tested, and it has gone from 2% to 6%.

His sperm count has also gone from 61 million to 99 million (normal is over 15 million). So, not only has the percentage of his normal shaped sperm tripled, but there's also a lot more of them!

I have seen lots of threads from other posters whose DHs have low morphology so I thought I'd share the changes we made. Essentially, it's a lot of daily supplements! Here goes:

The latter two were started due to me researching threads on here about anti-oxidants having a good effect on sperm!

In terms of lifestyle changes, the only one he's really made is not putting his laptop directly on his lap when working, he will put it on a cushion instead. He is a couple of stones overweight but we have had a lot going on in the past few months (including a CP Sad) and we haven't really been in the headspace to exercise. However we both had it as a new year's resolution so have been trying to do some over the past couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure that won't have had an effect on things.

I have worked out that whereas in September, one, er, session shall we call it, would have produced 2.68 million progressive, normal shaped sperm, this is now up to 12.92 million sperm. I just wish one of them would find its way to my eggs haha!

Best of luck everyone, I hope this is of use to someone!! Smile

Amazing! Out of interest did you notice a change in count and motility also or just morphology with all the supplements?

Janey3090 · 16/05/2022 13:28

@SusieNI hi! In our case, the count didn't change but it was already quite high. Progressive motility had a little improvement, and a big improvement in morphology 😊

SusieNI · 16/05/2022 14:22

Oh amazing! Thank you :)

Out of interest...has anyone come across word that having Covid can negatively effect sperm samples for a few months after??

FlyOnTheWall89 · 17/05/2022 05:30

@SusieNI no change in count or motility - count is still borderline and concentration is low. Motility has always been very good. We went to see Dr Ramsay who did say he believes a bad infection is having an effect, but not so much if you didn't suffer from many symptoms. Sperm reproduce every 72-90 days ish, so you just need to be out of that time window if your OH has had covid. X

FlyOnTheWall89 · 17/05/2022 05:30

Sorry I should say Dr Ramsay is a top urologist in the UK!

SusieNI · 17/05/2022 08:57

Thank you! Its a little frustrating we paid around £500 for private tests and the clinic were aware my DH had just recovered from covid 2 weeks before and never mentioned it could impact his results??

FlyOnTheWall89 · 17/05/2022 10:48

I think it's probably too early for any concrete research @SusieNI

Just wanted to update this thread for any future readers. We were scheduled for IVF in August but I got my BFP last week. This was month 5/6 for my OH taking Proxeed, ubiquinol, pycnogenol and omega 3 consistently. He hasn't had a SA since March but we managed it naturally. Couldn't be more happy.

NoToLandfill · 20/06/2022 18:47

Congratulations!

SusieNI · 21/06/2022 20:39

Aw absolutely amazing news congratulations!!xx

Decaffe · 30/09/2022 09:29

That’s wonderful news @FlyOnTheWall89, congratulations!

We have progressed to IVF and egg collection is tomorrow.

Just a follow up update from my side, we had a follow up SA when my husbands was 90 days clear from Covid and his results were nearly triple what they were when he tested just a week after having Covid! 🤯🤯🤯 madness!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 30/09/2022 10:53

@SusieNI great news! Any other updates on this group? I'm 20 weeks in a few days. Sometimes I still can't believe it.

Janey3090 · 03/10/2022 09:44

This is the most wonderful thread, I'm loving all the updates! I'm still convinced the supplements made all the difference for me and DH. To update I'm nearly 27 weeks pregnant and having a baby girl 💗

Can I check what supplements please?

We have just ordered Impryl for my partner, he is taking prescribed anastrazole as well as omega 3 currently.

Have you or @FlyOnTheWall89 heard of Prelox? It contains pycnogenol?!

If not - is there a particular version you used which you would recommend pls? Do you think it's safe to take with Impryl, anastrazole and omega 3?

Thanks! Massive congrats and best wishes to you all! Xx

Great to see this thread is proving so helpful still.

As for me. We’re currently undergoing IVF. We found out yesterday that DH’s sperm was clearly so fertile that two of them actually fertilised one egg. DH very impressed by his fecundity although I was slightly peeved as it meant the embryo was abnormal so had to be discarded Hmm Grin

I hope we get our happy ending.

@Decaffe thanks for the very useful thread, given me food for thought about getting my OH to take some vitamins. Wishing you all the best with IVF

FlyOnTheWall89 · 03/10/2022 13:53

Hi @feelinglost22 - I've not heard of prelox no.

My OH took pycnogenol 100mg daily and proxeed 2 sachets daily (amongst other things) both of which I bought from Amazon for ease and quick delivery.

I am also having a girl 💖. Keep trying guys - I really think so much of this is luck ... x

This has made me emotional - congrats, such lovely news!!

My partners results are so low across the board that I'm not sure we will manage without assistance but at least working towards making a decision! Xx

I promised I would come back to update this thread.

The problem turned out to be me - after IVF failing we found out I had ‘silent’ endometriosis - stage 4, deep infiltrating, the whole pelvis was riddled with adhesions too. I had excision surgery with the aim of doing an IVF transfer once my cycle returned after being put into medical menopause prior to the surgery.

Well, all DH’s supplements must have done the trick (along with my fabulous surgeon), as I fell pregnant naturally on the second cycle of trying, a couple of months before the planned embryo transfer. Baby is due in September 💙

Congrats OP and thank you for the update. Great news ❤

kalixxx · 18/06/2024 17:34

@Decaffe I posted a thread asking how to improve sperm and someone recommended I read here! Amazing to see that you’ve had your BFP! ❤️

Will look into at the things you mentioned! If anyone has any advice specific to count that would be amazing. We’ve just had my OHs analysis back and we’re working with a 1 million count ☹️ Morphology is 2% as well so we’ll need to improve that too!

LucyLoopyLu · 18/06/2024 19:26

@Decaffe brilliant news, congratulations!!!
