Trying TTC after the combined pill

Hello :) hoping you can help share your experiences with me.

I have been on the pill for over 15 years for acne but came off it 2months ago as we are wanting to start a family.

I had a bleed after stopping and then another 36 days later. I experienced sore nipples and thrush. However I wasn’t pregnant. Again this month I have experienced both symptoms and was really hoping we were pregnant as I haven’t had a period after 40 days but the tests are negative.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the side effects? I am hoping this doesn’t happen every month now. How long did it take for your periods to return ?

I am 30 , a healthy weight and a as on general .

Any advise would be really helpful

It can take 3-6 months for cycles to normalise.

However, the pill will also hide if your cycles are naturally dysregulated (me). Were they in a good pattern before you went off the pill?

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I can’t really remember . They weren’t regular to the day but they were at least every month.

It’s upsetting as when I missed my period this month we were convinced I was pregnant (it’s been 40 days) however the tests so far are negative :(

In that case they will likely settle! Frustrating at first I know x

Thanks for replying. I have been on the pill for so years and worried about getting pregnant. It’s only when I’ve started to want children that I am now worrying about it scary to think it may not be possible

Hi 2022hopeful,

I'm brand new to all this too.
First time even commenting after 6 months of scrolling through threads.
I had been on the combined pill for 16 years and the doctor put me on the mini pill towards the middle of last year which I didn't get on well with at all, (it was just about working out timings for planning a pregnancy)
Fast forward to now where I have 42 day cycles (I was regular in my teens) and I don't ever seem to OPK test on the right days as they always come up negative.
Hormones are still trying to balance themselves out and I hear it can take time, but I completely get your frustration - it's the unknown and everyone is different so it's hard to not feel alone with it - but you're not alone...

Ps. I keep having the whole "must be pregnant" feeling too... it's always really sad when it's something you're wishing for

I was told to expect it to take up to 6 months to get a period at all/a regular period. I did count myself very lucky that when I came off in August after 11 years I've gone straight onto a 26/27 day regular cycle. Still not pregnant though after 6 cycles (in cycle 7 now) so it hasnt helped. I'm 30, active, healthy weight etc.

Thanks you ! I’ll keep trying and hope it sorts itself - good luck
