Feeling deflated

Hi all, just looking for some support I guess and any advice from anyone who has gone through similar!

Over the past year or so I’ve been spotting before my periods sometimes for up to 6 days and mainly brown/sometimes pinkish. I’ve had blood tests and all my hormone levels were fine according to the GP. Had day 3 tests, day 21 tests confirming ovulation, full blood test with no abnormalities found. I’ve had a scan which found no abnormalities and confirmed ovulation, I’ve had internal examinations by both the GP and at the colposcopy clinic with the doctor saying it’s one of the healthiest she’s seen. But still I spot. I have very few days of actual period flow before it tapers off to discharge again.

I’m trying for my second child and this month I really got excited because I’ve had nearly every symptom going. Then yesterday at 9dpo when I wiped after a wee I had a very small amount of pale watery pink on the paper. Then early this morning after I wiped I had a very minute amount of beige/brown watery discharge on wiping. Later today I’ve had a very small amount of beige/pale brown in my pants (about half of a 5p piece it’s that tiny!). Now have nothing and just did a pregnancy test which was a BFN. I don’t know what is happening and it’s left me feeling emotional 😭

I totally feel you.
Although I haven't had the same tests yet, I have the same symptoms.
My periods last 24 to 36 hours, with spotting before hand for several days.
My cycle was always 30 days, but since this spotting I've had some 3 week cycles. I don't know if it was an age thing (I'm 38) or just something weird going on.

I've got my day 2 to 5 tests on Monday and next month the HSG (not had the required chlamydia test for that this month).
I've not had any success TTC, on and off since summer 2020.
I will let you know if I get any information via my tests.

Cruz86 · 21/01/2022 16:53

Hi @sarahj878. I am the same, although I haven't had any tests yet. I'm 5dpo and started spotting (not just pink or brown, red blood) and this will continue now until my period starts in about 5/6 days. I'm also trying for our second and had a miscarriage in November - I'm convinced the spotting has something to do with it but who knows. I've got a progesterone test on Monday and then I'm not sure where to go from there. My gp isn't very forthcoming with tests for menstruation-related issues so may have to go private. It must be so frustrating that you still don't have any answers, despite having all of those tests. One thing I will say is that I did still get a bfp, even with spotting for about 4 days before I got it, so don't automatically assume you're out if the spotting starts! X

sarahj878 · 21/01/2022 17:19

Ah I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through the same it’s so frustrating isn’t it! I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage too. When I had my son I had bleeding from the beginning until second trimester on and off. That’s interesting that you spotted before your BFP. Wonder if it was implantation bleeding? Since my bleed in the toilet bowl earlier there is absolute nothing in my pants and I’ve been racing about on school run etc so had thought there would be. I’ve had every early pregnancy symptom going this month, including just now when I had a lemonade and thought it tasted foul when it’s my favourite soft drink lol! Can’t our bodies play cruel tricks sometimes?!

Good luck with your tests. That’s frustrating re your GP. Keep pushing for the tests you want. I was lucky in that my GP I think had previously specialised in that area and she told me sometimes cycles can just change and it’s nothing to worry about. She’s moved surgeries now though and I’ve moved areas so have to find a new GP!

Same thing has happened this cycle except spotting occurred 9-11 dpo and I’m now on 14dpo with no sign of period 😩 bfn this morning so I know I’m not pregnant and confirmed ovulation via another blood test this month so I’m really lost and scared as to why this is happening. @Cruz86 @pinkpirlie did you get any answers with your tests?

Hi @sarahj878, yes I spot every month from around 6dpo and it continues til af starts about 4/5 days later. Interesting that you're 14dpo and bfn though. How long is your luteal phase normally? My progesterone was 15nmol but my gp deemed it as normal. I'm not convinced so I'm doing a private one tomorrow as well. It's just so frustrating x

pinkpirlie · 20/02/2022 10:15

@sarahj878
Hey
Sorry I can't help, I haven't had any results yet. Got some scans over the next few weeks and I assume after those I will get recalled to see the fertility doctor.
I'm CD31 now, no AF, negative test today (internet cheapy), but no period symptoms yet. I am not sure if I ovulated/ovulated late this month as my temps were all over the place.
Hope you get some answers soon.

@Cruz86 what day did you have your progesterone test? I had mine last Monday and it was 60nmol, the previous time was 33nmol so I got my hopes up that it was higher this time. My AF just arrived though. I’m just so confused as to why I spotted last week and then it went away completely again. I’ve got a reflexology appt tomorrow and hoping that will help this cycle. Hope you get some answers soon, it is so frustrating x

Good luck with getting answers from your scans @pinkpirlie. I’m waiting on a scan too which I pushed for at the GP. Had one last Feb which was normal so trying to reassure myself.

Not sure if anyone will read this update but it might be helpful for anyone going through something similar. I am pregnant! I started spotting at 6dpo and had a scan at 9dpo which showed no cause for spotting. At 11dpo I got a BFP (on a digital no less!). I hope anyone else try and suffering with spotting before periods with no known cause can take some comfort from this and get their BFPs soon!

Congratulations @sarahj878 fantastic news!!!

I'm currently c 6dpo

I took soy isoflavones this month and they seemed to help. First time ever got a really strong peak on the OPK CD13. So fingers crossed. But I've been very sick with covid now over 2 weeks and still going, so only DTD twice this month very awkwardly Confused

sarahj878 · 17/03/2022 14:29

Thanks @pinkpirlie. I’m in shock still I think. Ah fingers crossed for you! Be sure to update! Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling unwell. There’s so many bugs around at the moment, I’ve felt poorly for 2 weeks too. We DTD 3 days before my peak and the day after and one of them has worked so you never know!

Congratulations @sarahj878! I also recently found out I'm pregnant and am now just over 6 weeks. I had spotting for about a week right at the beginning but everything is looking good so far. Spotting really doesn't have to mean bad news ❤️

sarahj878 · 17/03/2022 19:57

@Cruz86 ah that’s brilliant, congratulations! We’ll be due within a couple of weeks of each other then. Thank you! I had spotting throughout the first trimester on and off when I had my son so I feel fairly calm now about the spotting and it seems to have stopped today 😊 I had a blood test yesterday to test my Hcg levels and having another tomorrow but dr said they’re not worried thank goodness. Did you have to have blood tests too?

Amazing, so glad everything is going as it should for you @sarahj878. I'm in the Due November 2022 thread if you wanted to join. I didn't have any blood tests but I had a scan today and saw baby with a heartbeat ☺️ x

pinkpirlie · 17/03/2022 22:08

@Cruz86 oh wow, congratulations to you too.
Fantastic news. I'm so happy you've both got your BFP!!!

Here's hoping it's a hat-trick by this time next week Grin

Cruz86 · 17/03/2022 22:20

Sending the biggest luck to you @pinkpirlie 🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

Cruz86 · 17/03/2022 22:21

Just a little update @sarahj878 and @Cruz86

We have finally got our BFP this month!!! After nearly 2 years TTC.
I'm 4+6 today, due date c. 2nd April 2023.

How are you both doing?

sarahj878 · 28/07/2022 08:35

@pinkpirlie yay congratulations! How are you feeling so far? I’m ok thanks! Am 23 weeks tomorrow and can feel baby moving around lots which is lovely!

OP posts:
pinkpirlie · 28/07/2022 08:55

Glad it's going well for you @sarahj878 must be so exciting feeling the baby move for the first time.

Only found out yesterday so still in complete shock. To be honest we didn't think it was ever going to happen, and after getting food poisoning during TWW really didn't expect it to be this month. When I did the test I immediately said, "yep it's negative" and had to do a double take. 😂

I feel very nauseous and my boobs hurt so much. I had a lot of cramping and stabbing pains through the night and I'm completely exhausted. Just hoping the little bean sticks around and is viable now.

sarahj878 · 28/07/2022 09:00

Wishing you the best of luck @pinkpirlie it can be such a worrying time, I know I was terrified as I had lots of bleeds up until a few weeks ago but remember every week that goes by the odds of pregnancy being viable go up and up and you’ll soon be seeing baby on scans and feeling them move 😊 I felt really exhausted early on too, it amazed me how tired I felt for stage was at but a midwife told me that early on baby’s cells are multiplying so rapidly that it makes sense why our bodies are so tired and feeling so sick, helped me feel a bit better knowing my body was doing what it was supposed to do!
