Ovulation help - Did I do right?

Hi all!

Firstly, I apologise if this seems silly, I'm new to ovulation tests and this is the first time I'm trying for a baby.

I've recently got clear blue ovulation tests. 2 days ago on the 17th January, I had a flashing smiley face appear. My and my partner tried for two days, both the 17th and 18th, I'm not sure if anyone else is like me but I'm really paranoid it's not enough. We don't have lots Of time as we work long hours, and like for example today we haven't. My question is, did we try at the correct time? Is the flashing smiley face the correct point to try? If so, was 2 days enough? As I noticed you can also get a still smiley face, not flashing, slightly confused!

If someone could please help! And again I'm so so sorry if this seems silly!

@Lucy1080 I haven't used these in a long while but I'm pretty sure flashing smiley is high fertility and I think u need the solid smiley face to be at peak fertility! So I would keep testing and do it again when u get the solid smiley! Hope that helps 🤞 good luck x

Not silly at all! It’s so confusing ttc and all the ovulation kits etc lol

With the purple clear blue ovulation tests they detect two different hormones so the flashing smiley detects a rise in oestrogen and can mean you are coming closer to your LH surge. The still smiley face detects your LH surge and this is when you are the most fertile. Ovulation usually happens 12-24 hours after you get your LH surge.

So it won’t have hurt to try on your flashing smiley days if your still face came soon enough after but the best time to try is when you get your still face.

For example I get lots of flashing smileys before my still smiley. Last cycle I had 8 days of flashing smileys and then I got my still smiley so if I only tried on the first 2 days I got my flashing smiley it would have been too soon before ovulation.

This cycle I am on day 9 of flashing smiley so the same again.

Some people will only get 1 or 2 days of flashing smiley and then get their still smiley so they could try on the flashing smiley and still be within the fertile window.

So when you get the flashing smiley keep testing until you get the still smiley and then make sure you try on the day of the still face and the day after for sure.

Thanks for your reply! Makes total sense. To be honest, although we're trying, we're not super good with taking the tests. Sometimes I forget to take the test so I wouldn't even know if it's a still face or not. We just try and have sex as many times as possible in this window and hope for the best. I think if I try and plan it around the tests, it'll become stressful, I think if it happens to happens! Ofc we're trying but i don't wanna get too attached to these tests

Thank you! Helps a lot! I think we're going to just try and have sex as many times as possibly in the fertile window. I think it adds a lot of pressure keep searching for that smiley face! It's good to know though that even if we miss a day, i can still get pregnant, hopefully 😳
