Hello! Just starting ttc for a second.

I have quite short cycles (24-26 days). I often get a few days of spotting before my period really starts. This month the spotting started on the 10th, with VERY light bleeding on the 11th. Then on and off spotting until my period actually started last night. Should I count the 10th as day one or yesterday (15th)?

One other question - I usually get ovulation pain. Does anyone know if that usually occurs just before ovulation or is it usually too late by the time the pain happens?

Thanks everyone! I'm good and tracking my cycles using clue but until now it's been to avoid pregnancy and I don't want to get crazy about it but I'm already over-analysing!!

Bumping this thread because I’m still confused about when to log CD1 too for similar reasons. I think you log it from the first day of full flow and don’t log the spotting as day 1 but interested to see what peoples advice is. Good luck to you Smile

@Newbiemg thank you! Are you just starting ttc too?

First day of full flow does make sense really! I'm going to go with that for now and then see where my ovulation pain comes after that for this month.

Yeah I’m on cycle 2 of trying ttc baby #1 Smile

My cycles are usually 28-30 days but I get the same as you. A few days spotting and then very light pink watery and then full flow and then more light and spotting so I was logging it from first day of spotting last cycle but then this cycle I’ve logged from first day of full flow.

I am using OPKs to test for peak to give me a better idea of when I ovulate too along with my app. Are you using those too or just going by an app?

That's really exciting! I hope it happens soon for you :)

My first is 4 now, so it feels like a long time ago we were ttc and it only took three cycles after I came off the pill, which was really lucky. I'm 33 now, 34 in May so I won't be surprised if it takes longer this time.

I haven't got any opks yet. I feel like I know I my ovulation signs pretty well. I'm really sensitive to mood changes and have been keeping an eye on CM for a while so I'll see how it goes for a few months and then I might get some opks.

It's nice to chat to someone just starting too :)

Thank you! I hope it happens for you soon too Smile

I’m 30 so not too different in age. I’m using the opks because I’ve noticed I don’t get a lot of ewcm so I wasn’t sure when I ovulate. I did notice the pains last cycle though and I’ve started taking EPO this cycle as I read it helps with CM so hopefully I’ll learn the signs better as I go.

It definitely gets easier to notice the changes every month, I guess the opks will help you marry everything up!

I'm right in the worst bit of my period atm so it seems a long way off getting to ovulation and then the long old two week wait yet!
