losing weight whilst doing Ivf

hi!
im wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. myself and my husband are starting Ivf with icsi soon. i have put it off long enough and feel so broody its unreal so it isn't really an option - we are 3 years ttc with secondary infertility - we have one miracle dc.
I am really keen to lose some weight this year also and feel it will help with conceiving, but im wondering has anyone actively dieted whilst doing the Ivf process? my consultant has said it isn't a problem but im paranoid that it might effect the Ivf outcome somehow. looking for some reassurance..
thanks

I think eating well and moving your body is important for IVF. So if you're not doing that now then it's a good time to start.
Personally I tried to keep quite 'stable' during my IVF. I didn't want my body to be concerned about calorie deficits or going into starvation fat burning mode whilst I was actively trying to produce good eggs and sustain an early pregnancy.
Take it slow. Eat well, tonnes lf fruit and veg and get out and move your body.
Don't add the stress and headspace of calorie counting at this stage.

I don’t think dieting while actually undergoing ivf is a great idea, you need to be supporting your body with higher quality protein and plenty of fruit and veg and frankly you’ll have enough to focus on without thinking about weight loss!

We did four cycles. I lost quite a lot of weight before starting, but then unfortunately gained half a stone on each cycle (it’s just how my body responded to the drugs). So I dieted and exercised a lot in the months between attempts to bring the weight down before starting the injections again. We got lucky fourth time round 🙂

How overweight are you what's your BMI?
Do you have 'unhealthy' habits now like lots of junk food / booze?

I go to the gym a couple of times a week and enjoy moving a lot for a bit of a feel good boost. Definitely going to make sure I am not leaving weeks between going to the gym going forward, it’s been like that since Xmas Blush

I would just eat as healthy as you can, do your exercise. Don't shock your body with less food etc as it'll have enough going on.

Doing IVF actually put a little weight on me.

Oh me too! I’m starting this week and I haven’t lost the stone I want to. So although I doubt I’ll actually lose much, I’m hoping to keep walking each day or at least every other day on the drugs and aiming to keep eating quite well.

Just to clarify, I’m not dieting as such. I’m trying to eat protein (I’m mostly veggie), nuts, fruit, veg, and trying to avoid junk food. It’s more the exercise side of things I’m concerned by, because I don’t anticipate feeling like doing a lot which is why I’m aiming to do a decent walk most days.
