Hey,

We have been trying for a baby for a few months now and I thought something might have been happening this month.

I started to have really sore boobs, I could smell everything and anything and felt dizzy some mornings ( not sure if that is actaully symptom) this all lasted about a week.. then I had a few days of nothing.

On Saturday night I started to have cramping and on Sunday morning I started to bleed… this was 5 days earlier than my period which is why I’m a little concerned. The bleeding was not as heavy as my normal period but enough to have to wear a pad. This only lasted till Monday night. Tuesday and I had nothing and then yesterday I started to see “spotting” when going to the toilet.
I decided to do a pregnancy test yesterday just to see if by any miracle something was happening but sadly it was negative.

I’m due on today and I feel a little strange but not like I’ll be coming on - just I don’t feel right.

I called the doctor and they were very unhelpful.. literally said we don’t know and we will have to see in 3 months time!

This is not an easy thing to hear when trying to calculate ovulation etc 😭.

Has anyone been through anything similar or have any advise for me on what it could have been? I’m hoping it’s not the dreaded M word but could it have been?

It sounds like your period, just a few days early. Do you track your cycle with opks or measuring your temperature? Are your periods generally regular?

I have been tracking via apps for now (mainly flo). I’m very regular, I’m never this early and always last 5 days at a much heavier rate than what this was. So 5 days early and for only 48 hours stands out 😢

Maybe it’s all a coincidence but just feel like something is not 100% right.

Did you do something different this month? Meds, vitamins, anything?

Gjsl · 13/01/2022 11:42

Nothing, if anything I’ve been more relaxed with the whole Christmas and new year break which I though would be a good thing but maybe my body prefers some stress instead. Who knows… maybe its nothing just all seems strange so wondered if anyone else had anything similar.

You might never know. Occasionally, you have an anovulatory cycle with no egg released and it can make things a bit haywire for that month or you can lose a very early pregnancy as it's not viable. But as I said, the odd weird cycle isn't of medical concern. There's nothing a GP can or should do which is frustrating for you but correct objectively.

I'd carry on tracking if that's what you're doing anyway and see where you are in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, have regular sex every 2 or 3 days if poss and you'll be covered for any ovulation while you work out where you are.

Good luck!

Thank you. Yes you are right… hopefully my cycle goes back to normal next month and we can get back on track with knowing when I’m ovulating.
