Hi, I have took 3 pregnancy tests 2 were a very faint positive and the other was negative. When I phoned the hospital birth unit, they said I had to wait 3 weeks to get an appointment. I am a midwife and I even looked when I went into work and it is 3 weeks I can't wait this long to find out what should I do? Don't want to tell my husband because I don't want to tell him that he is going to be a father when he isn't I just want to know 100 percent before I tell him.
Please help. What do I do?

You're a midwife but don't know how to take a home pregnancy test? Right.

If the pregnancy test says your pregnant then you're pregnant?

ButFirstTea · 07/01/2022 22:37

I don't understand what you need the appointment for, are you wanting someone else to confirm your pregnancy?

How many DPO are you? When is/was your period due? If you are testing early then I'd recommend waiting until after your period is due and then doing another test. It shouldn't be a faint line by that point if you are pregnant.

Hello @NewMomJessica

I hope you’re ok and not too worried.

I think the other posters have misunderstood your question. You’re worried because you have had two positive tests but now a negative test after so are you worried incase you could be losing the baby or it could have been a chemical pregnancy or something is that correct?

I’m really sorry I don’t know what you can do to get an earlier appointment as I haven’t been pregnant myself yet. Perhaps you could get an emergency appointment with your GP who may then refer you more urgently or perhaps you could pay for a private appointment if that’s an option?

I’m sorry that I can’t help more and I really do hope everything is ok and you get a positive outcome. Sending you lots and lots of luck Flowers

Unless I have misunderstood. If it is early days then you could keep testing. Wait a few days and take an early response test or another test to see if you get a clearer positive Smile

You're a midwife? Bizarre post for a midwife.

Gizzy93 · 07/01/2022 23:52

I had this last year. My GP thinks it was a chemical. I didn't get my period for another 3.5 weeks after the first negative. GP thinks what had happened was, the pregnancy didn't progress which meant negative tests, but then also took its time leaving my body, hence the 3 week late period.
It was weird, confusing and frustrating.

I hope you get answers soon. Can you just go to your GP?

I'm sorry you are confused. The early pregnancy unit cannot offer anything until you are over 6 weeks as you wouldn't see anything on a scan. They would literally just have you do a home pregnancy test. Your best bet is to take a cheap test all from same brand each morning and see if line gets stronger or not. SOME GPS will agree to test blood for hcg a week apart and tell you if the progression looks like a viable pregnancy but in many areas they do not offer this.
