Help with CB digital ovulation test….

Hello

I have written this already in a TTC group I'm in so sorry for the duplication but I thought it would be worth asking the question separately afterwards.

I think I’ve confirmed that my batch of CB tests are either faulty or just don’t work for me.

I had 3 static smileys last cycle which I don’t think is right. I did get one blank circle, a few days of flashing smileys and then the static which stayed on the screen for the 2 days and I know I shouldn’t have continued testing but I did and got day 3 another static. My cheapie line OPKs did confirm positive as well and it was at CD13 I got the first static so about right for my cycle length. I still wasn’t sure why I had 3 days worth but I decided it was my fault because I should have stopped testing.

Day one of testing this cycle as AF just finished and I got a negative on the line opk which I fully expected as it’s only CD7 for me but CB straight away gave me a static smiley. No blank circle no flashing smileys it just gave me my peak static straight away one day after AF on CD7. I have no other ov symptoms and Im pretty sure I am not at my peak this soon after AF and Im tending to believe the line opk over the CB test as it seems more accurate that I’d have a negative at this point.

I guess I will just keep using the line ones. I do have a brand new CB machine maybe I should open that tomorrow and use that but I was using my old one because I thought it might have learnt my cycle from before so would be more accurate but I guess I was wrong….

Has anyone else had weird things happen with the CB tests? Do you think it’s just a faulty machine or is it something Im doing wrong? Am I maybe testing too early in my cycle?

Just hoping there is nothing going on with me that I should be worried about.

Any advice?

I’m only on cycle 2 of ttc baby #1 so still learning a lot as I go along.

Thanks Smile

I’ll attach a photo showing my line opk and the clear blue test. Both tests done with the same urine. The test line looks abit darker in the photo than it does when I look at it myself but you can still see it’s a negative test I think?

Also my cycles are considered regular I think although they vary by a few days. Usually 28-30 days but I have had shorter cycles like 26 days and longer like 32 days before.

Anyone?

I’m pretty sure now it must be a faulty machine but I’m interested to hear others experiences with these tests Smile

Heya @Newbiemg!

I use the CB ovulation sticks. It sounds like you may have had a faulty reader this time round? I don't think it's necessarily unusual for you to get a static smiley on the CB and a negative on the cheapie as the CB measures two different hormones. I always find I get a static smiley then the next day a positive cheapie, but that may be my hormones peaking at different times!

Do you temp? I find that's a helpful indicator of whether and when I ovulated.

I've also had a weird cycle this month, in that I usually get a flashing smiley from CD 9 or so until CD15/16... I'm now on CD13 and it's still a blank circle! Hoping I'll just get one late surge over the next day or two, fingers crossed!

Hello @RugbyGirl1 thank you for your reply!

Yeah I think I will use my new machine from tomorrow along with the cheapies and see how it goes.

I have started temping this cycle. I didn’t last cycle but I’ve been taking my temps since CD2 this time around Smile

I started tracking ovulation the month before we started ttc so only been ttc for 2 cycles but tracking ovulation for 3 cycles.

Cycle 1 I just used cheapies and got my peak CD20 and then used CB and cheapies cycle 2 and peak was CD13 so maybe you could be ovulating abit late like I did and get your peak soon.

Sending you lots of luck! Hope this is the cycle you get your bfp Flowers

I used CB ovulation tests and first time thought mine weren't working correctly, it turned out I was testing too late in my cycle and had likely a already ovulated - days of flashing smileys then blank circle. Same can be said for testing too early.

I would stick with them as 2nd time using them they worked and we conceived straight away.

I would track your cycle on an app (if you don't already) and start testing a few days prior to your predicted ovulation date. I found also testing twice a day on or near ovulation date helped as in morning it was flashing and by evening it was static smiley. Although it comes at an expense doing it this way!

Good luck.

RugbyGirl1 · 09/01/2022 22:18

@Newbiemg hope the new holder is working a bit better for you! I'm still getting blank circles and completely negative cheapies, not even a hint of a line so who knows what's bloody happening this cycle! I'm usually like clockwork so it is pretty unusual. May be an anovulatory cycle I guess 🤷

All the best to you - hope you get your BFP soon!

Daisypod · 09/01/2022 22:52

Doesn't it say on the instructions to stop testing when you get the static? Maybe testing again in the same cycle has confused the holder?

GingerFox2021 · 09/01/2022 23:00

@Newbiemg I am pretty sure the instructions say - with cheap opks you should test between 12pm-8pm or so and with CB sticks with FMU.

I had flashing and a solid smiley on the clear blue digital ovulation test and barely even a line on a normal OPK. Not sure which one was correct but I sure as hell aren't wasting over £30 ever again on the clear blue ones
