Hi all

I think I may have calculated my ovulation date wrong. But I'm unsure! So I would love to some advice.

Here is my ovulation test taken 28th December 10:20am. I took another test in the afternoon (I don't have a photo) and the test line was lighter than this.

I'm uncertain if this test indicates I JUST had a strong LH Surge or this is positive for having a current surge when I took the test. So would that mean I would have ovulated on the 27th, 28th or 29th most likely?

I think I've calculated my DPO wrong so wanted others views so I can recalculate.

Hello,

On an ovulation test the test line needs to be darker or the same as the control line to be positive. If the test line is lighter than the control line then it is negative.

I’m not sure what strips you are using but on my strips the test line is the line closest to where it says max and the control line is the closest to the coloured part. So if your tests are the same as mine then the test in your photo is negative but unsure if yours are the same way?

I always have two lines on my ovulation tests the whole way through my cycle I’ve never had a one line test but the test line will stay lighter until I peak then it will be darker or the same.

Does this help or have I not answered your question? Smile

Hi! Does that mean if I took another test in the afternoon on the Tuesday and the test line was even lighter, that I ovulated most likely late Monday evening or early hours Tuesday morning? My cervical mucus was not fertile after Wednesday. When would that indicate I may have ovulated? I didn't take a test before this one Smile

The control line is on the left in your photo? The test line on the right needs to be much stronger before you can class it as a positive. Do you test regularly?

@Starykitten it’s possible you could have missed your peak as I know some women have very short surges so they may get a negative test in the morning, positive in the afternoon and back to negative the next morning.

So potentially you could have missed it if you didn’t test on Monday as maybe you got your peak on Monday. Did you test on Monday?

But also you might not have hit your peak yet so maybe keep testing? It’s hard to say I’m afraid.

I ovulated different times the last two cycles. I got my peak CD20 and then the next cycle got it on CD13.

What Im doing is testing from the day I finish my period and I test Am and Pm until I get my peak so I hopefully make sure to catch it.

But for example I got some new strips and I used a couple I don’t really know why because I was 2 days before my AF was due so I knew they would be negative just wanted to try the new strips lol. My first one was darker than my second one but they wasn’t decreasing due to ovulation just one seemed to pick up more than the other. They were both still negative. So fading lines doesn’t always mean too much.

If you had other symptoms Monday like lots of ewcm and cramps etc then I would go with that as ovulation day and hopefully you have caught it. If you don’t then next cycle maybe start testing earlier in your cycle and more often or you could try temping and then you will know more accurately which day you actually ovulated.

Sorry I know that’s a lot of info but not alot of help.
