How dark does a line need to be for you before you trust it/consider it a BFP?

I've got a squinter on an easy@home test this morning, they're meant to be 10mlu tests so fairly early. 9dpo today.

It's still only faint, so I daren't trust it yet in case of it being a chemical. But it's very definitely there. I don't think I'll trust it until it's dark enough for my partner to see it, so pretty much flashing in neon!

It made me wonder at which stage others trust that their second line is a genuine bfp? Is there a standard that I've missed? I know some US groups wait for a dye stealer but I've never had one in previous pregnancies so I'd have given birth before considering myself genuinely pregnant Grin

Please excuse my bedside table, it was cleaned after I took these - it seems to attract dust and a child's added some lovely sticky finger prints to it!

I can def see something there. I would test again in a couple of days and you should hopefully see a darker line.

I can definitely see this time. I've had one about the same today (10dpo) and don't trust it lol I think as long as it's pink and not white/grey (indent) then most trust it? Although it's easy to get obsessed and wait for that dye stealer lol. Hoping it's darker for you tomorrow 😁

DH can't see the second line on this apparently Hmm

I'm dying to get to the point where they can be trusted and stop testing! I hate this part. I'm never sure how much progression needs to be seen when women keep testing again in a few days. Can I count this as my BFP do you reckon and take a digi after AF's due (presuming it doesn't arrive!) to appease my blind DH?

I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd be tempted to get a digital now Blush

It may be too early, but it may come up with the words pregnant. Your DH would surely be able to see that!!

I've got a cb early digital in a drawer but I'm too nervous to take it because he'd consider it confirmation that there's no line if it doesn't come up yet! He's colourblind and adamant there's no colour in this because it isn't dark enough for him to see anything other than grey.

I don't even have cause to tweak anything though it's so obviously there, so I'm tempted to take it as mine, and let him wait for the digital when I'm feeling more confident of the result! There's no need to keep retesting is there? If my period shows up I know it hasn't stuck, if it doesn't then I can wait and do the digital on Saturday.

This is a clearer photo. It isn't even a squinter!

It’s a definite positive, should show on a digital tomorrow I would think.

That's a very sensible attitude towards testing OP.
But i would be testing with the digital and not telling DH unless it was positive BlushShockGrin

We've only got one bathroom and he's on WFH so he ends up working out why I'm in there for so long Blush I'd definitely do this if I had a better way of hiding it though!

Defo get a digital

rainbowzebra05 · 06/01/2022 07:26

He can see this one Grin I did try yesterday afternoon and it didn't show up, but it was only a 2 hour hold and wasn't massively concentrated because I'd been drinking. Here's hoping this one sticks!

Thank you, I'm so relieved to be able to stop testing now. The testing and watching lines phase makes me massively anxious!
