Semen analysis help

My OH did his first semen analysis. Didn't read the instructions and he didn't abstain like he was supposed to (less than 24 hours). I didn't think to tell him because he's an adult and thought he would of read the instructions but whatever lol.
He didn't tell me until after he submitted it. The first one didn't come back very good. 90 million concentration with 7.4% progressive motility. They told him to repeat it 2/3 days later because he didn't abstain. It came back after he abstained correctly as 189 million concentration with 32.8% progressive motility (which is normal).

Is it correct that not abstaining can have such a massive effect on the result? Or should I ask for a 3rd to be done.

Yes it does effect the results, the body needs time to replenish to its baseline per say :) if he abstained the second time correctly and didn't use saliva or any lubrication the results will indeed be accurate.

Yes, the body needs the abstinence window to regenerate healthy sperm. Glad all looks good.

Thank you so much for your reply. I nearly died after the first test 🤣 now I know why they say to have sex every 2-3 days in the fertile window lol!
