Hi all,

My partner and I are going to try for our first baba in the next couple of months. I've just come off the pill and want to maximise our chances of conceiving, particularly as we are getting married in 2023 so would love to have a baby before that!

I'm getting confused with all these conception vitamins - do I really need to take them? I have ordered some folic acid which I know is a must have, but it comes with B12 too. Is this OK? Please help!

Hi @Bobduncan you need to take folic acid for 3 months before ttc ideally, b12 is also good as is vitamin d x

Hiya, I am also just off the pill and preparing to TTC. I have bought the Seven Seas trying for a baby vitamins as they have folic acid and other recommended vitamins, and are well reviewed. They are also nice and small, and the pack is marked with the days of the week which is helpful when trying to remember if I've taken it or not! Best of luck to you :)

We took Pregnacare (for me) and Wellman conception (for husband) and conceived our first within 3 months if taking it. Same again this time for our second and currently in 2 week wait so hopefully! 😊

If you have a higher BMI then you need to take a higher dose of folic acid which is available on prescription.
I would recommend speaking to your GP it will also put down on your medical records that you are TTC in case there are any problems for you conceiving and then they have a record of when you started trying. ( likely you won't have problems but if you do you normally can't be tested until you have been trying for 2 years depending on your age)

Thank you everyone! There's so many type of vitamins marketed towards mum's nowadays, it's hard to know what is worth buying vs what's a marketing gimic! Xxxx
