OPK advice

I'm tracking OPK for the first time and based on other users was expecting a peak around cp11. AF is still here but thought I'd try out a strip and at CD5 it says 'high' already (only LH19).

Is this normal and will slowly get stronger or shall I expect my peak slightly before cp11? We have some guests to stay at the weekend and I'm worried i might miss the chance if I peak early?

I'm not sure but that is not a positive opk. So I would just keep testing daily for now, especially of this is your first time using them and you don't know when you ovualte.

Thanks @Jsgdud - do you know what would make it a positive OPK? I did another test this morning and the line is darker, just not sure when to DTD. Will make sure we DTD over a few days but don't want it to feel too forced if it's every day!

Was the first picture the very first opk you did? If so the app has no data to go on, and so may have classed it 'high' because it can see a line, without really realising that it's not actually a very strong result. But if you keep testing you'll see the line get darker (as it has in your second snap!) and that's moving towards a positive.

When we were TTC I did a few cycles of opk before I knew we wanted to try, so I had a good frame of reference on lines darkening and timeline in my cycle. If you don't want to wait then just keep watching the line get darker and do the deed every other day or so.

I think you then see the line start to fade again into the two week wait, I stopped testing at that point, and just started again after my period so as not to waste too many strips. Good luck!!

A positive OPK is when the test line is the same shade as the control line, or darker. These are both negative, although the second one is definitely darker, keep testing. Think it’s best to test between midday and evening, on at least a 4hr hold

Your top one is dark so likely you'll reach peak this afternoon. When your lines start to get colour you dtd every other day, then when you reach peak do it that day, the day after (ovulation) and the day after that if you can manage

@LittleMrsMama it's getting darker but still not positive - it needs to be as dark or darker than the control line. Which means ovulation is imminent. Ideally you want to DTD before you ovulate (so the sperm is ready and waiting!), During and after to cover all basis. I'd keep testing daily or twice daily as it darkens so you don't miss it - mine has gone from positive back to negative in half a day before! So you don't want to miss it.

Thank you! That makes so much sense now. I'm new to all this and just wasn't sure how quickly it gets dark. I've been testing at least once a day and it's gradually darkening and hopefully should peak at the weekend.

Thanks for all the advice!
