Anovulatory cycles

I'm wondering if there's anyone who experiences anovulatory cycles and could shed any light. I've been getting a bit of ewcm but not as much as o would normally get during ovulation. I'm also getting negative opk's. I always feel pretty amorous during ovulation and that hasn't changed this month. I could just be getting ready to ovulate later than normal maybe. My question really is the f you have experience of anovulatory cycles do you still experience all the symptoms of ovulation minus the LH surge?

Are you sure you're ovulating and haven't just got very long cycles? I ask because this is what I had in the end 40 days +. Couldn't manage with OPKs as I never knew when I was ovulating over the period and it would have been a waste of money.

I have pretty regular cycles normally. I do often get a +ve on opk but nothing this month and it does seem late for me to be ovulating but still getting all the other symptoms which is the weird thing. It's possible I have missed the surge on the opk but I've been doing 2 a day so I wouldn't have thought so.

When I say regular cycles they are generally 26/27 days

Sometimes an anovulatory cycle does happen. If it becomes more regular/you're concerned you can get the GP to do a blood test to confirm things - at least this was what I was told about 3 years ago.

Thank you. I'm not overly concerned for one cycle but I'll keep an eye on it. I am hoping I have/do in fact ovulate as we are obviously ttc.

Fairly sure I didn't ovulate this month, OPKs never peaked and looks like AF is on her way. I did not notice any usual ovulation symptoms such ewcm, horniness etc.

sillisosij · 30/12/2021 19:45

If it helps you feel better, I never knew what was going on - think I had very long cycles with occasional anovulatory. I got pregnant in 8 months DTD every other day, so it was more useful for me not to track anything but just do what I could and see how it panned out, if that makes sense?

SGChome20 · 30/12/2021 20:25

@sillisosij yes I know what you mean. With work etc it's not always possible for us to dtd every other day but when I'm around ovulation we do try and make it work as much as possible.

I got into using OPKs in the summer, and usually knew when to use them as my ewcm would increase and like you my libido would make itself known Wink in September the ewcm didn't arrive and neither did my libido, and all my daily OPKs from day 8 onwards (I have a short cycle) were negative. I eventually gave up, and had my period as usual start on day 25.

The next month I conceived and I'm now 9 weeks pregnant Smile it must be the case that I sometimes don't ovulate, but it just meant I had to wait another month.

Following, I think I’m on my second anovulatory month following a miscarriage in October. Just want everything back to normal!!

SGChome20 · 31/12/2021 11:21

@frenchie4002 I also had a chemical pregnancy last month. Sorry for your loss.

I've just had a bit of bleeding this morning which is confusing me even more now! I never get mid cycle spotting. It's def too early to be implantation bleeding. I guess it could be ovulation bleeding but haven't had a +ve opk. I think I'll BD today on the off chance I am in fact ovulating.

Just an update. I got a +ve opk this morning so it seems I ovulated quite late for me. I didn't think of it before but I got my booster this month so maybe that had thrown things out a bit.

My cycles were always weird after miscarriage (had 3) and I have 3 or 4 anovulatory cycles a year due to pcos (I have 9 or 10 cycles a year)
I have been pregnant 5 times between 2015 and 2020 and have 2 boys now.
I wouldn't worry to much if you've re entry had a miscarriage as it can take a few months for everything to settle again

frenchie4002 · 04/01/2022 21:04

Thanks both :)
I have finally had af arrive after 40 + days so taking soy isoflavones to try and help things along. Glad things are a bit clearer for you @SGChome20 x
