Hi all

I am am on c4 of trying to conceive number 2. I realise that’s very early days but I thought I could be cheeky and ask you all:

-what advice do you have
-what foods do you eat

  • supplements
  • any other advice

I am getting more despondent each month and would love any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Op,

I am currently 13 weeks. Tried to conceive for only 2 months (we were lucky)

I took seven seas trying to conceive for a couple of months before I started trying. Didn't change my diet massively except did try and eat more fruit and veg like they say, particularly bananas and broccoli! I would eat a banana first thing (easy to eat and quick). Have always drank a lot of water. I do really like a lot of fish more than meat- was eating cod and salmon at least twice a week.

I didn't have sex any other day of the month apart from the week leading up to ovulation and about 2 days after just to make sure. Always had sex night time and laid down for about 15 mins after at least and had my hips elevated slightly (I know people say to not do this but I was always sceptical).

ExpectingLady93 · 29/12/2021 22:52

Good luck I forgot to add! X

cleantheshelfaftertheelf · 29/12/2021 22:53

Watching this.

I'm 12 months in and no luck.
Feel I've tried everything.

HamCob · 29/12/2021 23:00

Don't bother with charts, temps, apps, cycles etc, just DTD every other day.
I obsessed over fertile windows etc and bought a persona machine with DS1. It took about 7 cycles and became really stressful.
Threw it all out of the window with DS2 just DTD every other day and it happened straight away. Obviously could be a complete coincidence! Good luck.

ExpectingLady93 · 29/12/2021 23:02

@HamCob I do agree with this.

Obviously we were indeed lucky in our second month but I will admit the second month I was 'obsessing' less over it! I made myself busy with work and found I wasn't thinking about it as much. It's easier to say than do I understand. Good luck x

Thanks all

I am getting so frustrated! My plan for the next month is

  • no alcohol
  • pre natal vitamins
  • no caffeine
  • @ExpectingLady93, I am going to up my water intake (I am terrible at water)
  • @HamCob, I think that is good advice to not stress too much about fertile windows etc!

Acupuncture and reflexology have worked for me. I have become pregnant 4 times within weeks of starting these treatments after trying for 7/8 cycles with no acupuncture/reflexology

Also I started using a progesterone cream before this pregnancy

BillyBarryBoo · 30/12/2021 11:51

I also tracked my ovulation so I knew when it was. Day 12 in my case rather than Day 14

LH1987 · 30/12/2021 12:44

Thank you @BillyBarryBoo, I have ordered some progesterone cream now. I am not brave enough to do acupuncture but maybe in a few months I will try.

I limited to one coffee a day also and loadssss of water. Good luck

ExPatHereForAChat · 30/12/2021 16:08

SMEP. Pre Seed. Good luck!

BTW, I fell pregnant on cycle 5 for both pregnancies, so maybe your time is soon!

BillyBarryBoo · 30/12/2021 18:11

@LH1987 acupuncture doesn't hurt (me anyway) but reflexology is basically a foot massage so no needles or anything. Apologies to any reflexologists, I don't mean to diminish it, I just mean it's hands only

LH1987 · 30/12/2021 18:33

@BillyBarryBoo, I am going to look up local reflexologists. Thank you!

I have a needle phobia so acupuncture is beyond me for now. (I did manage all my vaccinations though!)

@ExpectingLady93, I am definitely going to up my water intake!

We got lucky when we dtd in the morning.

xx18921 · 30/12/2021 19:13

Fell pregnant cycle 3, think we were just lucky as were 37&41.

  1. No booze or caffeine
  2. Prenatals and vit D plus loads of water
3 DF on men's conception vits and vit d he didn't drink but drinks loads of tea.
  1. BBT but I was using Natural cycles pre TTC for contraception so just kept taking temp.
  2. Generally had a healthy lifestyle/diet and had exercised regularly most of my life.
LH1987 · 31/12/2021 16:46

Thanks @Ilovechocolatecoins and@xx18921. I am going to try DTD in the morning (really unappealing to me!) and putting a healthier lifestyle in place.

Don't do it in the morning if it's really unappealing. There's no evidence that works better. It's just a quick way to turn sex into a chore and kill off enjoyment.
LH1987 · 31/12/2021 16:55

I think that’s a good bit of advice @Maireas, I am starting to try and project manage this whole process and it does take almost all the fun out of sex which can’t be good.

I've been there, my friend! Seriously, never get into sex as a routine, even if you may miss a fertile window. It's more important to keep the intimacy and enjoyment - your relationship matters.
Paperyfish · 31/12/2021 16:59

I used guiafensen which is found in cough syrup. As well as easing a cough it makes your cervical fluids thinner and easier for the sperm.
I also used the clear blue fertility monitor. Got a positive three times first or second month using those.
Also, grapefruit is supposed to be good for cervical mucus.
Have heard soya isoflavines can make ovulation sooner and more eggs. it’s like natures clomid.

Xmasiscancelledagain · 31/12/2021 17:00

I agree with @HamCob have more sex than you think you should be having and have it outside your fertile window as well. Absolute minimum of 3 times a week.

BlueForYou3 · 31/12/2021 17:09

Have you tried Pre-Seed OP? It may have been a coincidence but I fell pregnant the first month using it after TTC for a while.
