What does implantation bleeding actually look like?

I’m a bit confused, I had a TFMR last month and have been waiting for my period to return, it’s been 6 weeks so it’s expected.

I thought it started yesterday as the 26th I kept noticing a faint pinky tinge when I wiped and then yesterday morning fresh blood. But it’s just not getting heavier. Normally my periods are super intense and day 1 is medium or heavy flow with day 2 very heavy (like needing to empty my menstrual cup every few hours). But all day yesterday and today I’ve just had a very light flow of bright red blood, maybe a teaspoon every 4-5 hours.

It seems too heavy and too red to be implantation bleeding (which I’ve never had before) but it doesn’t remotely resemble my usual period.

Pregnancy test is negative so definitely not early pregnancy bleeding.

Could this just be my body getting back to normal after the termination or could it be a sign that things aren’t quite right after the procedure? I had medical management.

Any advice appreciated, I’m definitely still mentally recovering from the termination so although I’d be thrilled to be pregnant, I’m not really in the right headspace for guessing and testing etc, I would rather just know either way.

My implantation bleeding was like a very light period. I had a positive pregnancy test at the same time though.

I had an early mc in October. Round about 6 weeks later I had similar to what you're describing. Tested negative - wonder if it could just be a weird period?

So sorry for your loss. I had a TFMR with my 1st pregnancy. How long did your bleeding last for? I ended up having a small, retained product and bled on and off for 2mths! I had a medical at nearly 12 weeks, but wasn't advise to do another pregnancy test, so have no idea if it would have shown up on not! Its likely your body and hormones settling.

With that loss, my 1st period was the heaviest I've ever had. Extreme bleeding for 2 days, then tapered off to barely nothing! My usual is heavier on day 2, and lasts 5-6 days.

Have you recently had a covid vaccine or booster? My periods were later and heavier after each vaccine. This has been reported by many women.

With the next 2 pregnancies, I did notice the implantation bleed. Both times, it was a tiny, 2mm, pink speck on wiping. Nothing on underwear, no pain or cramps that I recall, not worth using a panty line as nothing even on a 2nd wipe.

I can only suggest trying again in a day or 2 with a FRER and just keep an eye on things. As said, I had a small, retained product. It actually came out with my 1st period! I had no fevers, no smell or pain to suggest anything was amiss.

I've done alot of reading since, which said that the body with naturally try to expel any products of conception left behind- even if it might take 1-2 cycles to do so. I'm not saying its definitely that, but do check you don't have a fever or signs of infection. Best of luck and let us know how you get on Flowers

I meant to ask how far along you were?

Thank you for replying, I think like @barneymcgroo it must just be an odd period as everything returns to normal.

@Hairyfriend yes I had my booster the week before Christmas so have thought that could be a factor as well, just a lot going on I think! I was 14 weeks, we had a diagnosis of Edwards following our 12 week scan. Everything has seemed textbook so far, bled heavily for one week then gradually lighter for another week so I will keep an eye out for issues but hopefully it’s all just a normal resettling.

Sorry to hear you also had a TFMR, I hope your following pregnancies ended more positively. It’s a tough thing to go through. xxx
