What is an indent line? Is this one?

I’d always thought ‘a line is a line’ so it must be positive, but I see indent lines mentioned a lot but never really know what they are, and why they occur.

So I took this test today, 12dpo and CD28. AF due today/tomorrow. I feel I see a very faint line (vvvf!) obviously more visible in person etc etc.. but, it made me wonder, are early early lines indent lines? And what are these?

The first photo is today’s, and the second photo is my photo from last month. Last months test had a much clearer line I think, although my period came the next day so wasn’t sure if it was an indent line too?

Appreciate any thoughts!!

Also, for the second picture, I wasn’t sure if it was an indent line, or whether it should be counted as a chemical?

I think there’s nearly always an indent line where the dye would gather to develop an actual line. I don’t see any colour at at and I would expect a clearly visible line on the day AF is due and 12dpo, are you sure of your dates?

Ah okay, thanks for the info @HippeePrincess
Pretty sure of dates. I use digital ovulation tests which captured my peak on CD15 and so ovulated on CD16. I don’t temp, so not 100% positive I guess.

I’ll try again in 2 days provided AF doesn’t appear…

Looks like a positive to me. I had a pregnancy scare the other month and tested on a first response, and there was no indent line at all, even after 10 minutes. Fingers crossed for you.

MissBattleaxe · 28/12/2021 17:05

Sorry, I can't see anything at all. If you're near AF, there would be a stronger line, even if it was faint, but I can't see anything. Keep going and best of luck.

These look really like one I took on a FRER this morning. I’m a couple of days late so will test again tomorrow but not sure. Keep me posted with how you get on

whomoon · 28/12/2021 17:57

@Lizbiz89 thank you! It’s nice to know it’s not just me seeing things. Even if it’s not certain, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed something comes of it. It’s my 12th cycle

Thank you @MissBattleaxe I do appreciate it’s not very visible!
I’ve read a lot (as we do!) that BFPs may not appear until after 14dpo, so I’m holding onto that hope at the moment.
I’ll be sure to keep going if this turns into nothing Smile

I am also trying to figure this out! These blue tests aren’t always accurate I hear. Faint line or no?!

I can see a line on both but I'm very weary of frer now, I've had the same for a couple of months and my gp ran bloods which came back with a hcg level of 1 which is a normal level when not pregnant. I thought I was having chemicals but turns out it was just the tests.

I've done a lot of research and found that a lot of people have had the same problem recently, frer have made the tests so sensitive that they even pick up a non-pregnant level of hcg!! I'm not saying this is the case for you but maybe do another in a few days and see if darker, fingers crossed for you x
