Need help for a desperate friend, anyone had IVF and bled at the start of the pregnancy?

I have a friend who has just had two embryos put back about a week and a bit ago. She's been doing pregnancy test the last few days that have come up positive (she had negative tests before I know they give you synthetic HCG for a while too which could give a false positive).

Anyway she has been spotting the past few days and it's got worse, she is really really worried. She has been to hospital and have bloods done for rising HCG.

Just wondered if bleeding is common at the start of an IVF pregnancy?

Thanks in advance

Sorry kitty I know nothing of IVF, hopefully someone who does will be along soon.

Bleeding is much more common in an IVF pregnancy than a spontaneous one & although bleeding does increase the risk of miscarriage it is more likely than not that the pregnancy will continue. I was on the bad end of the stats I know plenty who've been luckier.

I really feel for your friend, it's a horrible place to be. I hope it works out okay for her.

She could talk to her clinic and make sure her progesterone supplementation is good enough.

I had bleeding too and the clinic increased my progesterone dose for a few weeks.

I then had really bad pains and feared the worst but it turned out to be a cyst.

I am now 28 weeks pregnant and everything is fine, by the way.

If she has had 2 implanted then at least her chances are doubled.
Fingers crossed everything is ok. Sometimes the bleeding is from the embryos implanting themselves in the wall of the uterus. Let's hope it's that .

thanks will pass on the messages

I am so worried for her this is her one chance at IVF, her DD died a few years back due to medical neglect and she cannot have anymore children naturally, this one shot is her only hope.
