Pregnancy after miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage between the 3rd and 7th of November, an early miscarriage at about 5 6 weeks. I had sore boobs for a couple of weeks later which eventually came to a stop. I've not had a period since, I read it can take between 4-6weeks. I think this week is 7 weeks since. I also wasn't very regular before hand so could just be that.

My boobs have been tender the past week, I assumed the period was coming , still nothing. This morning I did a pregnancy test, I don't know why as I am/was sure it was just my period however there is a very faint positive line. I will upload later when I'm not in work.

I guess my question is, is it likely to still be HCG from when I miscarried. I know the obvious thing to do is test again in a few days but I just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation. We did have sex not to long after the miscarriage as emotions took hold, I know we should have been some what more careful but these things happen I guess.

If you hadn’t received a negative result prior to seeing this faint positive- then it is more likely to be retained tissue. This will also halt your period as you still have HCG in your system. It could be a new pregnancy, but it’s impossible to tell if you hadn’t had the negative test prior to this one.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

Contact your EPU for a scan and they will be able to tell you more.

Thanks @Suprima the hospital did a test a couple days after the miscarriage and they stated it was negative however I never did one myself since.

I will wait a few more days and test again, then if I have a sure positive I will wait a couple of weeks to see what happens and go from there. I did read a pregnancy has less chance of being successful if there hasn't been a period in-between so I will keep an eye on what happens. Thanks for your help.

If you have had a negative result, it’s safe to say this is new pregnancy Flowers

Lots of people fall pregnant straight after miscarriage.

If you can afford it- I would make a private appointment for a progesterone prescription to make your womb lining nice and thick (it can be thinner post MC) and they will also scan you as part of this. They should be able to see the sac if you are showing up positive on a test. This will cost about £250 including the prescription. If you are in London I can recommend Dulwich Women’s Clinic otherwise have a google at private women’s hospitals in your area.

I will definitely look into that prescription, I am in the north so I will have a look for my area Smile thank you! I will post an update in a few days! I have got all my fingers and toes crossed.

So the one on the right was yesterday, the one on the left this morning. No line today or if there is it is a lot lighter. No more sore boobs either xxx

What sensitivity are these tests?

The ones done at the hospital are usually 25.

If these are lower sensitivity, then they could have picked up remaining HCG. Did you read yesterday’s result within the time frame? Flowers
