IVF med packages

Hi, we are about to embark on IVF after previously having IUI. I am a bit unsure about the packages offered by the clinic. They do a package without meds, or one with meds which estimates the meds at a cost of £2300. I was wondering if people used their clinic to supply the drugs but didn't include in a package and if this works out cheaper, how much did you roughly pay for your meds? We are with Manchester fertility clinic if anyone has experience with them. Thanks Smile

Hi @Natalie3383

How many rounds are included in the package? We're with CARE and are on their 100% refund package which covers the cost of 3 rounds of ICSI. However, Meds are separate! For round 1, we've paid £1,550 for meds and currently in TWW.
We'd earmarked £2k per round for Meds and that was with neither of us having any medical issues and unexplained infertility!

Hi @cherrytreecottage

It is for two rounds IVF on a multi cycle package (not refund package). There aren't any fertility issues just have treatment as a same-sex couple. If two cycles are needed then I suppose it might be cost effective, but if the first cycle or any subsequent FETs work then I wondered how much roughly out of pocket we might be. Similar to IUI there doesn't seem to be a best approach to packages

So I assume they're estimating the cost of £2,300 to be for both rounds? If so, seems pretty cost effective to me. Although, like you, we're in a similar situation where, if you're successful the first time then you're out of pocket but then make a huge saving if it moves on to the next - I suppose that's the idea with the packages though isn't it.

Initially, our meds were prescribed at £1,200 but a few days before EC I needed extra stims and had to pay £350 for one little vial! Does it say with the package that includes meds, that it covers everything - there's no hidden costs if you need additional stims or anything?

How are you feeling about the process? When did you have your IUI cycle? X

@cherrytreecottage that is really useful thank you. I hope you are OK the TWW is hard going isn't it. Does Create only do mild IVF or conventional too, I do have their care pay plans but thought it was for mild sbd natural.

We had three rounds of IUI the third was successful but unfortunately we lost it at 6 weeks. We are going to go for IVF now just as the success rates are much higher. We are hoping as the IUI worked IVF will too. We are worried now about another miscarriage but we don't want to give up.

@Natalie3383

It's CARE we're with rather than Create. I've gone through conventional and no other options were discussed with us but that might have been down to our test results during the process.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage Thanks as you said, I'd really hope that IVF would work for you given IUI got you as far as it did! Keeping everything crossed for you and really hope you find a clinic you're happy with!

Thank you and I have my fingers crossed that you will have a positive test result Smile
