How often do you 'try' when trying?

Hi everyone,

Hope you're well. This is our third month of trying, our second month with properly trying with ovulation tests etc. My expected ovulation will be maybe the 27th-29th and I'm just wondering how often should we having sex and how many days before hand?

We have put ourselves on a little sex ban for this week just to try make it a little more exciting as last month sex felt a little like a chore after a few days so I'm wondering did we maybe try for too many days in a row, just looking to see what worked for others x

We did every other day for a week before ovulation, then on ovulation day itself and maybe the day after.
Only took two months and definitely became a bit of a chore!

Our first month of trying. I ended up wanting to a few days after af ended, then 2 days later then will be 3 days. Then probably 2 days after that. Lots of different potential ovulation dates.

But for my first child I just did it once on supposed ovulation date and it worked! Realising now how lucky we were.

We have been trying since March.

We conceived in September when we had only DTD once that week, looking back it was on my ovulation day, unfortunately I had an early miscarriage at the start of October.

We had a break in November (we were heartbroken and just couldn’t face it) but at the beginning of this month we DTD a few days before and after ovulation, I do have an app but really we are usually a “every couple of days” kind of couple anyway!

Feeling a bit down today as just got my period, hopefully 2022 will be our year

Hi! We're also on month 3 and we've only managed to do it twice this cycle. I'm currently 4dpo but we did 2 days before ovulation and then day before ovulation. We've found it really hard to do it more than twice in a cycle just cos we're not in the mood and sex feels so forced when you know you HAVE to do it. We've also been together a really long time so it's not like sex is high on our priority list anymore but we're working through it. I think if it doesn't happen this cycle then I'm going to suggest we try 4 times around ovulation and see how that goes.

Hi, thanks for your replies. Yeah my cycles have been inconsistent so really leaves about a week when ovulation could happen and every day for a week seems a little too much to do!

I usually try and do every other day from about cd10 until I get peak opk, then do 3 days in a row if we can manage it! Tried doing every day in fertile window but we get too knackered by ovulation day lol I think every other day is meant to be better for sperm anyway!

We're currently TTC #2 (in cycle 3, AF due in the next few days). We usually try for every 2-3 days from cd7 until just after ovulation. Any more than that and it starts to feel like a chore tbh
We did the same thing for my DS and it took about 4 cycles to get pregnant.

What days have you been getting as peak ovulation days? Still waiting for mine to show up.

I used the CB OPK, every other day with the flashing smiley and the day and day after with static smiley. Good luck x

Do you remember what cycle days they were?

Currently in cycle 2, we DTD daily in our first cycle trying from CD8-15 and every 3-4 in the TWW. Going to go for every other day in this cycle, and maybe an additional one for luck around my peak and see how we get on

@BiscuitLover3678 my cycle is usually around 32 days and ovulate about cd18, can vary by a few days though

I have been trying to conceive now ! & wanted to know if I’m doing things right !

I’ve recently also bought Pre-Seed & have been trying to use it this time around.
I’m at my 3rd month of trying.
I will post a photo ( we’ll attempt to if it works however) I got a high OPK 18th & 19th of December evening.

I baby danced 14th & 15th then early morning 20th 3 times. Am I still in? Or did I mess up?

I have a 28 day cycle & my period are always on time…

2 or 3 times a week. Not too stressful but gives you a good chance of conceiving. I think sperm can live for a couple of days once they are in the right place so more than every other day is way too much.

Would you say the days I baby danced are good? Anyone else got pregnant with the same way I have been trying too?

I think you have a chance! Mostly from prior the 18th.

I got a smiley today (cd 13) but we dtd yesterday. I think that means tomorrow is proper ovulation ans today the process is starting. Hope yesterday was enough as have no energy today and lots to do 🤣
