blood test for pregnancy

my doc says she wont do a blood test to see if i am pregnant until 6 weeks past last period cos it wouldnt show anything up. i know this is crap cos i had tests at 4 weeks last time... why do they treat patients like idiots

why do you need a blood test?

cant you just do a normal test yourself? Or see a diff doc as that is free!

i dont NEED one but doc initially said i sholud have one as have had nausea and tiredness for 3 weeks now. dont know what my cycles are cos still breatfeeding and things havent got back to normal. i have done tests but they are negative. its the principle more than anything, why fobb me off with total rubbish

agree that she should tell you the truth which actually may mortally offend you, however put in a "nice" way doesnt have to cause offense.

it's possible that your local hospital won't do the test - ours won't.

I went to gp when I skipped a period - was told was prob pg, to do test etc and when all neg dr arranged blood test. form came back from hosp saying "we do not check for pregnancy, do urine test and if neg then patient is not pregnant".

i know hospital do them, had them before. its quite poss they dont like doing them for money reasons. the point is i am a reasonable person, intelligent even... hate being treated like an idiot! if she doesnt want to do a test she shoulf say so! i'm not a child

It wouldnt be a huge waste of time and money if she tested for anaemia at the same time would it?
strange why she didnt tell you its a waste?
i would rather be told the facts same as you.

she want me to have several other bloods done, to see if something else can be causing the nausea..... not sure if i can be bothered
