Help with opk’s needed!

So I’ve been using the cheapy opk sticks for a few months now and have never got anywhere close to a positive… all my results are low.

This month I’m trying the clearblue ones too. I’ve had 4 days of flashing smileys but the cheapy tests are still showing ‘low’ and barely have a line.

I’m on day 20 of my cycle and have been doing the cheapy’s since day 11 and CB since day 16. Roughly 33 day cycles.

Can anyone explain this?! Worried that maybe I don’t ovulate…

It could be imminent tbf if your cycles are normally 33 days.

Bear in mind the flashing is due to oestrogen and not LH so that's why it explains that your cheapies are still not showing much. Are you following the instructions and not using the first wee of the day on the cheapies?

If you can't pinpoint ovulation this cycle you need to start temping to see if you are ovulating or both - it could just be you're just one of those people that opks don't agree with!

Hi OP I've just started using OPK and I got a positive much earlier in my cycle than I expected..im also using cheapies. My LH surge was pretty short, got an almost positive at 8pm then blaring positive next morning at 8am...by lunch it was negative again

Same here. Clear blue had 4 days of flashing smileys and then a solid smiley, but the weird thing was once I'd popped the test out the the second line was very faint. Yet the poundland OPK barely even had a line on it. I know the poundland ones definitely work because I've had a few solid double lines on them.

I think OPKs can be so hard to navigate as our peaks can be so short, very easy to miss if you're only doing once a day. I have read so much advice about what time to do them etc but it doesn't seem to help much.

I tend to have days and days of hardly any 2nd line at all, and then all of a sudden it darkens quite quickly overnight. I usually do mine around 11/middayish.

I got a CB smiley one but I have more faith in the simple line ones tbh as at least I can see the line progression. I have always gone straight from O to static smile on CB, and this month I got a static on CD24 with period arriving just a week later. I had a chemical pregnancy last month which probably explains why the results were weird but it just makes me doubt how trustworthy they actually are.

Thanks everyone. I’ll persevere through the rest of the pack… I’m hoping I’ll find some test that works for me as DP is getting worn out with DTD all the time haha

Always that bit of paranoia that you don’t know if you have any fertility problems until you start trying too…
