Hello,

Please help me if you can. I’m so confused.

I’m ttc #1 and only in cycle 1 of trying.

I started using the CB ovulation tests yesterday the blue ones that have the flashing and static smileys.

This is going to be abit long to explain sorry in advance but I think it will all be linked/relevant.

This month I went away for a couple of days and my AF was due so I took Norethisterone to delay my AF so I didn’t have it while swimming etc.

You are supposed to take it 3 days before you are due on your AF but I didn’t I took it on the first day I got my AF as it came abit early. It did stop it though within a couple of hours as it was light on day 1.

So my original AF came on the 1st Dec which according to Flo app would mean I’d ovulate on 14th Dec.

But I took the tablets on the 1st Dec and stopped taking them on the 3rd Dec and my AF then came on the 6th Dec. So it was 5 days later with the delay.

This meant that my original CD1 was the 1st and with the delay tablets it became CD1 on the 6th.

I assumed that delaying my AF would also delay my ovulation but maybe that’s wrong?

Yesterday I thought my AF finished as I had nothing all through the night and the next day. It was a lot shorter than normal. Usually my AF lasts 7 days and this time only 4 days but I thought it could be due to the tablets as it has been less heavy than usual as well.

So I took my first CB test yesterday and got a blank circle which I fully expected being only the first day after AF finished.

Then last night I got some light bleeding/brown spotting so not sure if my AF was fully over but then again this morning I’ve had nothing.

I took another CB test this morning as I thought I’ve already started now and it said on the box that it stops working if you don’t test for 3 consecutive days so I thought it won’t hurt and just probably means more days of blank circles before I get a smiley.

Well today I got a flashing smiley and I’m totally shocked and confused.

Have I got this flashing smiley because I’ve started testing too early and tested yesterday while possibly still on the backend of AF?

Or have I got the smiley because the period delay tablets I took don’t actually delay ovulation and only AF?

If I didn’t ever take the period delay tablets then today would be CD10 for me which would make sense to have a flashing smiley on CD10 right?

But with the period delay tablets my AF delayed by 5 days so I thought this was now only CD5 for me which is too early for a flashing smiley isn’t it?

So I’ve got my first ever flashing smiley only 1-2 days after the end of my AF.

I really wasn’t expecting to see a flashing smiley until maybe mid-end of next week earliest.

Can anyone advise me? Thanks Smile

So I only had 1 day of a blank circle and now I’m on a flashing smiley. Don’t you usually have more days of blank circles?

I’m not sure whether I should keep testing now with this kit and see if I get my static or if I should throw this kit away and just get a brand new kit and start over and see what happens.

So confused Confused

Definitely keep testing, you may need to do a few months to get into a routine and the unit learns as you go along. With flashing smileys I got 9 my first month and 11 the second month. (Fell pregnant that time and would have missed ovulation otherwise). I’d try not to mess with your cycle too much though if you can!

Ok yes that makes sense that it would need some time to learn I will test again tomorrow then and keep testing. Perhaps it will stay flashing for a good few days then. I’d be very surprised if I got a static in the next couple.

I will deffo not be using any more delay tablets etc from now on.

Thank you smile]
