Advice for following ovulation

Hi ladies,

Happy Wednesday. The past couple of months my partner and I have begun trying. Two years ago we very easily got pregnant without tracking anything but this time we're being less casual so i'm trying to track my month.

I bought the PreMom app and my cycle is quite long, maybe 32-34 days and my ovulation was on about day 19. I had a sudden peak for two days which then dropped. We had unprotected sex the three days from day one of the peak and I suppose what I'm asking is I'm unsure if this was correct?

When is the best time to have unprotected sex after you peak and does anyone have any other advice in terms of tracking? Thanks so much ladies x

Hi @chocolateaddict231. The trick is to DTD before ovulation, not after. You want the sperm there waiting for the egg and not the other way around. That's where OPKs come in - use them twice a day and when the test line gets darker, BEFORE your peak, that's the best time for some action. It's fine to have sex after your peak too, but before is best for conception.

You usually ovulate the day after a peak opk, so best to dtd at least every other day in the 5 days before this, since sperm can live for 5 days inside you. After ovulation is too late to dtd, sperm need to be there waiting for the egg :) we usually do every other day, then try and do 3 days in a row when I get peak to make sure we're covered in case ovulation is later (can sometimes be up to 48 hours after peak opk)
