Bleeding after bfp

Has anyone experienced any bleeding after a bfp? If so what was the outcome? I got a bfp at 8dpo and then at 11dpo had some light brown spotting which lasted a few hours. Im now 12dpo and the bleeding has stopped but I've also been having a few cramps and fearing the worst. I had a MMC not too long ago and so this time around I am very very anxious. Thanks xx

Unfortunately my bleeding after bfp turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. Hopefully this isn’t the case for you but I would always recommend getting bleeding checked out x

I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you have any other symptoms at the time?

Hi OP, when I was pregnant with my DD (now 18m old and napping away upstairs), I spotted from cd25 to cd28 and then it stopped. I hadn't done a preg test yet as was away on holiday so although this would have been an early period for me, I assumed that's what it was. As soon I was back from hols, I tested and got my BFP and realised the spotting must have been implantation or something.

I spotted a few other times through out my pregnancy but it was all ok in the end.

mightbeyesmightbeno · 08/12/2021 16:13

I've just looked back on my app and although I don't know exactly when I O'd as wasn't tracking, I think I'd have been about 10-11d PO when the spotting started x

Dreamcatcher20 · 08/12/2021 16:25

None other than the line being too faint for what I’d expect it to be at that stage. I went to the early pregnancy unit where they scanned (couldn’t see anything) and monitored my HCG levels every 48 hours. Maybe keep testing and monitor the bleeding? Fingers crossed all is ok for you xx

@Dreamcatcher20
I'm so sorry to hear you went through this. I'm very worried about ectopic but I've got a gp appointment on Friday so will raise it then. Line progression on the tests ahah been good abd bleeding for now has stopped so I'm holding onto this.

@mightbeyesmightbeno thank you for your message this is good to know. I have a little boy too who is 21 months :)

I think it’s really positive that the bleeding has stopped! Could it have been implantation bleeding?
Weirdly enough I seem to be in a similar situation… bfp yesterday (I think- test was expired and waiting for more to be delivered today), but I had some bleeding and cramps last night but it stopped almost immediately!

Stade197 · 09/12/2021 10:11

I had a little bleeding which was probably implantation bleeding.

I had cramps at about 4 weeks that felt like period cramps so after an ectopic a few years ago i was convinced something was wrong but it was all fine and baby is now 3 months old 😍

My doctor said cramping is normal, the uterus is a muscle so when something happens in there (like a baby implanting/growing) the only way the uterus knows how to react is by cramping

Fingers crossed it all goes well for you 🤞x

@Dreamcatcher20 congrats on your positive!! Although it doesn't quite feel the same after a loss does it, I can't shake my worry. I've had no more bleeding so I'm convinced it was implantation as it would fit time wise. How we I've been having pains on one side which seem to be very similar to round ligament pain but just seems way to early for that. Anyway I'm waiting for the doctor to call me this morn about it and hopefully will be able to get things check out

No I agree, it’s very difficult not to worry. Keep us updated about what the doctor says! Got my fingers crossed for you, it sounds very promising.

Dreamcatcher20 · 09/12/2021 11:05

Sorry- promising that the bleeding has stopped. And it could be that the cramps are nothing, but definitely best to get checked anyway x

Lizzie6395 · 09/12/2021 14:47

Thank you- doctor was reassuring and said I was unlikely I'd be experienced ectopic symptoms due to how early I was but had a feel of my abdomen and did a blood test with follow up bloods Monday. He also said he was going to speak to the gynaecologist at the practice so feels quite through. He said that he could do a referral to EPU but they wouldn't see much on a scan at the moment but I might push for a scan at 6 weeks to be sure. Feeling a little relieved that things will be looked at and keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you for your advice

That’s very true, I was much further along when I had symptoms! Hopefully, you’ll see a big jump in your HCG levels between your two blood tests. Do you feel a bit more reassured now?

I redid my test on a non expired one- bfp! I’m just a bit worried it is a bit faint since I’m a few days past my period date. Had a bit more spotting on and off too. X

Lizzie6395 · 09/12/2021 22:17

Yes feeling a bit reassured thank you and feeling a bit more positive.

Congrats on the positive!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. It's so hard isn't trying to second guess everything, I wish I could just relax about it all. Hopefully you will start to see the lines getting darker over the next few days x

Dreamcatcher20 · 10/12/2021 09:02

Lines do look slightly darker today, also got an early scan booked for Wednesday which makes me feel relieved!

Lizzie6395 · 10/12/2021 09:51

Ah that's great, keeping fingers crossed for you!! My bleeding hasn't come back and the one sided cramp seems to have gone away so feeling more hopeful too! That's really good news about the scan x
