EWCM and ovulation

Hello all,

This is my first post, I’m looking for some advice if anyone can help as I’m feeling totally confused and so deflated. I’ve been TTC for 8 months now and have been using OvuSense to help.

This month I noticed that while OvuSense says I’m in my fertile window right now, I had EWCM for a few days last week which would have been days 9-12. I now have totally dried up.

So my question is, I know you get EWCM before ovulation, but should it be there continuously until you ovulate, or is it possible to ovulate and not have any CM at the time of ovulation?

Any help very much appreciated xx

Hi @Maf2122 I tend to find that my fertile CM dries up the day after I ovulate and I usually see my temp spike on the same day. It looks as though your temp started picking up a couple of days ago (CD14) so I would guess you ovulated around CD13/14, this would tie in better with you EWCM pattern too.

I'm not sure why OvuSense is only just saying you are in your fertile period now? Did you manage to DTD whilst you CM was fertile?

Hi @Kay00,

Thanks for your advice - this actually does make more sense - I have been taking ovusenue for gospel but maybe that's been the wrong approach.

Managed to DTD day 9, 11, 12 14 & 15 so fingers crossed.

Thank you so much again xx

Following with interest. I’ve always had EWCM two or three days before ovulation, but by the time I’ve got my positive OPK it’s gone! Whereas others on mumsnet tend to have the EWCM when they’re actually ovulating.

That's interesting, I have a consultation with a fertility nurse next week so I'll ask her about it and see what she says!

I'm hypothyroid so always get worried that my hormones aren't working properly. GO says all fine but not so sure... xx

Hi @Maf2122, I started using Ovusense in April this year. I noticed on the screenshot that it hasn’t actually confirmed ovulation yet, so your fertile window may change once confirmed. Ovusense is great for confirming ovulation, however I believe your fertile window is only a prediction based on previous data and can easily change.

I had a MMC at the beginning of November and have been using Ovusense to try and get a sense of what my body is doing. I recorded EWCM on Friday (CD 26) and Saturday (CD 27) and ovulation was only confirmed this morning for CD30 (I’m on CD33 now). I hope that helps Flowers

BlueForYou3 · 03/12/2021 18:37

Sorry I meant ovulation was confirmed for CD29 rather than 30 so 2 days after I last recorded EWCM.

Maf2122 · 04/12/2021 00:26

Hello, @BlueForYou3

You're totally right it's not confirmed yet, I'm probably jumping the gun a bit because it looks like it's going to follow the same pattern as previous months. I know this seems stupid but this is the first month I've properly thought about CM and ovulation and I'm so annoyed at myself for not keeping proper records until now.

Very sorry to hear about your MMC 😔. Have you had your consultation with the Ovusense nurse? I'm not too sure what to expect.

@Maf2122 please be kind to yourself Flowers It can be such a stressful time TTC. The best thing you can do is DTD regularly until ovulation is confirmed.

I’ve not had a consultation with one of their nurses. I got in touch with them earlier in the year after ovulation wasn’t confirmed on one of my charts despite seeing a rise in BBT. I didn’t get a lot of reassurance from the conversation and it just fed into my concerns that something was wrong and that’s why I hadn’t had my BFP.

Gals, you were right. Ovusense confirmed ovulation on day 14 - thank you so much for helping to pit my mind at rest xx
