hi, me and my partner are going to try for another babyin the new year. we alrady have a lovely 2 year old daughter and would absolutly love a baby boy. any tips on making our dream come true are apreciated. i have heard that concieving close to ovulatgion date is good because male sperm are better swimmers but die sooner than girl sperm. not sure if this is true and ofcourse if we have another girl, will be overjoyed. still if i could choose, would love a boy. thanks

I always heard that if you are in no rush to conceive and would like to try for a boy then AVOID sex in the days leading up to your ovulation and on the day you are ovulating really go for it! This is pretty much what we did (by coincidence - we were not actively trying for a boy, just trying for a baby!) and hey presto - pg with twin boys (fraternal, so 2 separate eggs and 2 separate sperm). I think there are particular foods etc that are said to help but I don't know what they are or indeed if it's all old wives' tales.

loads and loads of sex for a boy - as the male sperm swim quicker you're improving your chances of more of them getting there - the girls swim slower but are more tenacious.

you have to get the timing right though - no point having lots of sex 2-5 days before ovulation as then the quick swimmers will have died before egg released.
If you can invest in a book I find Hazel Chesterman Phillips's book choose the sex of your baby excellent. Or check out in-gender.com. I am taking my temperature daily and using ov sticks.

Hazel Chesterman Phillips did not work at all for me to get a girl. And I am very intelligent and followed her instructions exactly. Ds3 is gorgeous though!

I don't think anything is 100% chipmonkey - or China and India would have a lot fewer baby girls I suspect. Even if you are very intelligent . But you can only do your best! I think the book says that boys are easier to plan than girls.

i will try anythin just for fun. like i saud, boy would be nice but i do love my girl and another wouldnt be a bad thing. i think its just nice to have 1 of each.

But ds1 and ds2 were also conceived well before ovulation ( were trying not to have children IYKWIM) So taking that into account her track record with me is fairly abysmal.
