Pregnancy with mirena coil?

Hi everyone,

Advice needed!

I'm Extremely paranoid currently! I've noticed over the last few weeks I've been feeling extremely tired and just not "myself" but I have the mirena coil fitted so there should be no way I could fall pregnant - anyway I remember when I got it fitted back at the beginning of October my GP told me to check the threads every month to ensure they're in place properly still - I tried this last night and I can't feel them whatsoever. So now I'm in panic mode!

I did a test today and I don't think I see any lines, il attach for you to see.

Any advice anyone can give me? Should I contact my GP, never had this kind of issue before and this is my first time with a coil. Also I was bleeding heavily when it first got fitted but I've not bled now for about 2 weeks maybe more.

My coil moved and strings went inside my cervix. Needed to have a local to remove it but it wasn’t a problem. I bled for the first 3 weeks then hardly at all for all the years I had it but took 3 months to settle. Your test is negative. Could it be something else? A bug or something.

@PurBal it could be a bug, who knows! It's just the worry of not being able to feel the strings. I had it fitted after a d&c and they told me it can occasionally fall out after a procedure like that but I don't believe I've felt anything come out as I'm sure I would do.

I've had a coil accidently pulled out during intercourse around six years ago and all was fine after, I've had another one put in since which I've had for about 3 years now and never been able to feel the strings on this one which does slightly worry me, i will feel run down with it too sometimes and have the same panicking thoughts about a pregnancy too. It does happen but only in rare cases

@Cabbagegarden that's good to hear then that you've also not felt yours but also not fallen pregnant haha. I think for peace of mind I'm going to ring my GP and see if they will check for me as I've got 2 kids under 2 so the last thing I want right now is another baby 😂 although I don't think I am anyway, worry got the better of me!
