TTC shettles method Dec 2021

Hi me and my husband have decided the times right to start trying for our 2nd. Without going into a full disclaimer I love my DS and if he’s supposed to have a little brother wonderful! Health not gender is the most important and we know nothing is guaranteed other than in a lab gender selection, but it doesn’t hurt to give shettles a go.

I’m posting this if anyone else wants to chat ovulation dates whilst trying to do the same. I’m trying for a DD

First day of last period 23/10. Cycle length 29. Period usually 6 days. I am planning on ttc everyday post period until 4 days before ovulation. According to an online calc my most probable ovulation days are Dec. 4 – Dec. 8. And my period should end on the 27th. So going to try 27-30th.

What I’ve read about alkaline/acidic diets doesn’t seem to ring true as a lot of conflicting advice. However I have read that you should eat a diet high in fruit and calcium and protein, which does describe my diet while I conceived my DS. I’m going to take some supplements folic acid, cranberry, calcium and magnesium.

Anyone doing the same or has any advice for me (other than don’t get your hopes up lol) I promise I’m not as obsessed as this reads

Until 4 days before ovulation? So excluding the four most key days Hmm Also an online calculator won't do anything. If you're going to track properly you need to bbt that's the only confirmation you'll get of whether or not you've ovulated.

Fwiw, I'm 25+ weeks into my third pregnancy. Each one we've dtd everyday from period to ovulation, no difference to diet or anything. I have two girls and now pregnant with a boy...

Yep method is to do it before ovulation and hope some hardy female sperm will still be present at ovulation.
I had been thinking about tracking my temp. I’ve just noted it down when I woke up this morning 36.2 Did you use any particular app?

Last time I was very lucky and got BFP first month TTC with an online ovulation calc which makes me think my ovulation date is where it was predicted.

And congratulations on your pregnancy 🙂

Hmm I’m wishing you lots of luck and baby dust OP, but if you’re due to ovulate on 4th-8th December and only going to DTD 27th-30th November then I think you’re giving yourself an incredibly slim chance of conceiving at all.

Cecelia90 · 20/11/2021 09:36

@Moonshine160 I know I wonder how long I’ll be able to stick with the plan. But if nothing happens for a good few months, at least I’ll really get to know my cycle with tracking my temp.

OP I hope you are just doing this for a bit of fun? The problem I can see with your plan is that you don't know when ovulation occurs so if it occurs in the second half of the 4 day window you will have zero chance of getting pregnant if you have not DTD since 30th.

A word of warning these threads about whether you'd prefer, or are trying for, a boy or a girl never really go down well here where a large proportion of the forum members are desperately trying for a baby and/or undergoing fertility treatments and would therefore cut off their right arm for a baby without a second thought about whether it's a boy or a girl.

I really don’t want to hurt anyone in posting about trying for a girl. SJ strum the baby name lady on YouTube, did a video on why she attempted to have a DD in which she explains herself better than I can.

The reason I post on here is because if talked about this with people in my life I would hate for them to be disappointed for me if I was so lucky to have another son.

Ultimately I’m dtd a few days early and seeing what happens 🙂

But op, no sex four days before ovulation stands you in next to no chance of conceiving - at all!! Especially if you're only relying on an app.
