TWW Dos and Don'ts?

Hi ladies, I'm 4 DPO, so early in the TWW, and want to maximise my chances of implantation / pregnancy as much as possible. I wondered if anyone had any tips / advice for Dos and Don'ts during this time?

I've had quite a tough week at work and as it's Friday, I would usually relax tonight with a glass of wine and a hot bath.. obviously I absolutely wouldn't if I was pregnant but wondered if it's also best to avoid during the TWW?

Sorry if this is a stupid question - first time TTC and all very new! Thanks so much for your advice in advance x

@MummyStevensToBe hello! Happy Friday! I'm 13 dpo, awaiting AF any minute now. We've been TTC for over a year now, so I'm no expert and have been trying different things each month with no luck so far. One thing I wanted to do going forward was to avoid hot baths and Jacuzzis during the TWW. It'll be good to get everyone's opinion on this as there are mixed thoughts on this one. I have also started doing some fertility yoga during the TWW.

I had no idea that I was pregnant that early in so life continued exactly as normal for me.
That included running, swimming, skiing, hot tubs, alcohol, blue cheese, pâté, takeaways , work stress…….

Danani · 19/11/2021 16:25

I have absolutely nothing to contribute to this, OP, I carry on as normal in the TWW, but interested to see if there is anything that can be done to maximise the chances.

Btw @Muchtoomuchtodo LOVE your response and thank you for sharing, it is soooo relatable.

I carry on as normal in the TWW.

Hopefulhedgehog · 19/11/2021 16:34

@Tinkerbell098 can I ask why you would avoid hot baths? Interested to know where that comes from

Firsttimetrier · 19/11/2021 16:41

Hey @MummyStevensToBe I’ve just got my BFP although I’m still in shock as it’s so early still (9DPO).

I carried on as normal during the TWW, including getting drunk last weekend and eating a lot of fish and sashimi at a fancy fish restaurant 😬.

I genuinely thought I wasn’t successful this month as I’ve had no symptoms at all so far.

Thank you so much ladies this is super helpful. I think I'm probably getting a little bit too caught up so early on in trying - and actually stressing about this sort of thing is probably going to have more of a negative impact than a glass of wine!

@Muchtoomuchtodo that is very good to know (I wish I was doing all of that this week 😂)

@Firsttimetrier huge congrats on your BFP and so reassuring to know it can happen regardless - sounds like you had a great time 😂

Happy Friday ladies ❤️

@Hopefulhedgehog it’s just something I wanted to try from next cycle as I’ve found myself using the jacuzzi at the gym for about 15-20 about three to four times a week. So wanted to limit this as I’ve seen mixed thoughts about hot tubs and hot baths for example this: www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/pregnancy-week-by-week/expert-answers/pregnancy-and-hot-tubs/faq-20057844

Obviously nothings worked for me so I’d believe @Firsttimetrier and @Muchtoomuchtodo over random articles online.

Hopefulhedgehog · 19/11/2021 18:53

Ah thanks @Tinkerbell098 hadn't heard that. I'm on cycle 13 so tried and failed at a lot!

Firsttimetrier · 19/11/2021 18:57

@MummyStevensToBe and @Hopefulhedgehog The only thing I think that worked is doing SMEP? So I would recommend giving it a go if this cycle isn’t successful. It is hard going though and DH and I were exhausted by the end of it!

My IVF clinic told me to avoid hot baths after transfer as they can raise your core temperature if you are in them too long which can cause damage to the sensitive embryo. However I used a thermometer and ran my bath at 37°-39°, no chance of raised body temperature and warm enough for an enjoyable bath.
