Is KY Jelly lube okay?

We like to use lube, but I’ve heard mixed views on whether lube affects sperm quality. Does anyone know if KY Jelly lube is okay to use when ttc? Thanks!

It'll say on the back of the bottle. But I do think it slows the sperm down.

Conceive plus etc or the boots own brand are probably better alternatives xxx

Yeah, I would move to a lube that’s specifically a fertility lubricant. Many of them act as a spermicide. Conceive plus or Preseed are the two main ones (some even say they can help with TTC but the jury’s out on that!)

Pre-seed is a lube for TTC. I got some on Amazon but never actually used it.

Sorry to clarify - it’s not that traditional lubes affect sperm quality (they’re fine to use if you’re not currently TTC, they don’t change the sperm or anything!) but if you ARE trying to conceive, they can affect sperm motility - so they’re not getting to where they need to be (ie they don’t get to the egg in time!)

@2under2howscary @Dollywilde it says “water based. This product is not a contraceptive and does not contain spermicide.” I may have a look at alternatives because it could slow sperm down! Any more recommendations? I’ll have a look at the ones mentioned. Thank you all!

@BeingATwatItsABingThing I’ve not heard of that one but I’ll have a look!
