BBT chart help

Hi all.

I've just started measuring my temperature this cycle but I've got a question on my chart.

I think I ovulated between day 16 and 17 as I got a temperature spike day 17. However, today it is down again. I thought that when progesterone is released your temperature is meant to stay high until your period starts? Has anyone had similar?

Thanks in advance 🙏

If you ovulated on CD16/7 then you will be looking for a pattern of higher temperatures (you would get cross hairs on your chart after 3 x higher temps with FF). A pattern of higher temps might include the occasional lower temp, which is perfectly normal. Keep temping and hopefully an ovulation pattern will reveal itself. If it doesn't, then keep DTD to catch any 2nd ovulation attempt that might happen.

Yes you'll need three high temps to confirm ovulation.

The other thing to note is that you took today's temp earlier than usual which will make it lower. How much earlier did you take it?

Another point is that you might be having a fallback rise if it's 2dpo today.

Thirdly - what thermometer are you using as you seem to have hypothermia 😅

Thank you so much for your replies. Sounds like I need to get a few more readings in then!

Haha @Juno231 I'm using OvuSense which is a device which measures from the armpit and takes multiple readings while I'm asleep. Apparently temp can be lower from the armpit 🤷‍♀️ I only popped the reading into FF an hour earlier but since I am using the OvuSense device I'm not sure it matters for me.

What is a fallback rise?

@cocoforbes ah I suspected something like ovusense - didn't realise it took armpit readings though! Fallback rise is a big drop only on 2dpo. It's fairly common.

@Juno231 ah I see, thanks!

I just found this link that shows that there can be lots of patterns! Might be useful for anyone you has similar worries.
