Hi, DH and I have decided to TTC for second, I wasn't TTC the first time as it was a happy accident, however that was seven years ago and i turned 40 this year, so know this could take a while if I'm lucky enough to fall. I'm having my copper coil removed in December, and wondered at what point I need to start taking folic acid? Do you take it when TTC or just if you fall pregnant?

Best to take it when TTC

You should start taking it 3 months before ttc is current advice

3 months before TTC is the NHS advice

3mo before TTC - The reason is it needs time to build up in your system to be available for the fetus and is most crucial in the very first weeks - when you may not even know you are pregnant!
