Fsh test on day3

Hi all, I have been TTC for 4 months and nothing happened yet.
I know it is early but I am thinking about going to some hormone checks.
As far as I know, best day for these test is day3 however my period is getting light on day3. Should does the flow continue properly while the test is being done or is it not related with the quantity of flow ?
Sorry for this weird question but your answers will change lots of things for me Daffodil

It's got nothing to do with your period other than then fact that starting a new cycle means your hormone levels regulate back to their baseline levels.

Make sure the test covers LH, TSH and prolactin as well - that's what the GP tests would include (as well as estradiol and testosterone) and help determine if you eg have pcos, prolactinoma or hypothyroidism getting in the way of ttc

Many thanks Juno231 for your answer and pointing out other significant checks.
Hopefully, I will find a package which covers all of these tests.

@Salinger26 is there anything wonky about your cycles btw? I might be able to point you in the right direction test wise if so?

If nothing wrong then perhaps tracking your temperature to confirm you're ovulating could be beneficial?

Or skipping the LH/FSH test (unless you suspect PCOS?) in favour for an AMH test to check on your ovarian reserves?

Hi @Juno231 I went for a female profile(fsh,lh, prolactin, oestradiol) + amh test. My cycles are regular so I was expecting that everything would be normal but Prolactin came bit high. I became upset but at least now know the problem. Thank you very much you really helped me

@Salinger26 hi! Did you do this in the uk. I have been trying for 7 months and already feels like a lifetime. I’m my doctor will do ‘general bloods’ but I feel that is box ticking and no overly helpful. I could go privately but have no idea where to start looking! Day 3 bloods would be end of next week for me so I don’t want to miss testing this month if I can xx

Juno231 · 19/11/2021 07:49

@Salinger26 how high was the prolactin? It's not uncommon for it to be a bit elevated from stress so unless it's in the thousands I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

@FlyOnTheWall89 you can do them at home via home kits from eg letsgetchecked or Google a fertility MOT in your area.

Hi @FlyOnTheWall89 I also gave up with my gp and went for private test. I called DocTap and book a phone consultation reservation on same day. I think it was unnecessary but this doctor is referring you to the clinic where your blood sample will be taken. (And taking your £50 pound just for this referral :/) all blood tests and their price are listed on doctap website. I asked for female profile+ amh and he referred me a walk in clinic in wimpole street, london.

it is around 800 mIU/L dear @Juno231, do you think that I can regulate it by changing life style and eating habbits a bit ?
