TTC with irregular periods

Hello, I am 30 years old and this is our first time TTC. I have had irregular periods since I was 13. They currently average from 31 - 44 day cycles. Premenstrual, I have lumps in my breasts - sometimes 5 at a time. I was unable to take hormonal contraception as my acne and breasts lumps would increase. It would also make my periods more irregular, sometimes bleeding for more than 5 days or no period for 6 months. My GP would not investigate as I was not TTC at the time. I paid to see a gynaecologist privately and he refer me back to my GP for a PCOS test - it came back negative. I have been testing my ovulation at home and each month I have negative results. I have a GP appointment (at a different surgery) next week to see if they take me more seriously. What information do I need to have ready? I want to finally be investigated as to why my periods have also been irregular and why I have shown negative ovulation tests. Like many women, I want to know if I am fertile. I wish fertility tests were available in your early 20s. If someone told me then to have children sooner rather than later I would have done it.

When you say they did a PCOS test, what was that? I'm currently being tested for it but it involves several blood tests over a number of weeks and also an internal scan. It's still quite possible you have it

I had an internal scan and blood tests. Results came back clear. I was not diagnosed with PCOS.

Ok. Good luck with your new investigations, hopefully you get some answers.

Good luck with the new investigations, if I was you I’d be telling them you have been Ttc for a year otherwise they may not do the checks. I have irregular periods and they wouldn’t do anything until it had been a year. Good luck xx

Good luck with yours too. I have been reading some other threads and saw your comments - sorry to hear about your journey so far. Hopefully, the tests can begin giving you some answers.
