Period rant- any advice?

Hello, bit of background. I'm 31 and DP is 30. I came off the pill around 7 months ago after 15 years. Didn't track anything at all as we weren't trying but not not trying either. This past month we started actively trying to conceive our first. I've never been pregnant before, never had a 'pregnancy scare' and as I've been on the pill my period has never been late.

This month I used OPKs, used CB but ran out of them before I got my flashing smiley but easy@home thinks I got my peak around CD18. I've been testing since 8dpo and I am now 19dpo CD37 and still getting BFN. I have no real symptoms except some very light cramping I keep thinking is AF and my cervix is very high. I don't feel pregnant but AF is 6 days late now and I've NEVER been late before.

I'm starting to worry and wondering whether I need to contact my GP? I don't want to waste their time but I'm worried something is wrong? It's just odd that the first month we TTC my period is late for the first time but I'm not pregnant.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and AF finally decided to show up? I really want to start a new cycle but can't until I know for sure!

Thanks! X

I don't have any answers for you but I had to reply as I am in such a similar situation! I'm CD35, 19DPO and testing BFN! I'm 30, DH is 27. I always have irregular cycles but it's so hard not knowing what's going on, I imagine it's worse when you're usually regular.

I tested the night before last and it was a stark white BFN, not even a hint of a line. I've avoided testing since because it's so upsetting seeing a negative (we've been trying for nearly 3 years).

I hope you get an answer either way soon! I'm not going to bother with the doctors because every time this happens to me, AF arrives in the end, I'm just waiting her out Sad

Since you haven't had natural periods for 15 years you might just now be finding out that your natural cycles are irregular or long. A lot of women have irregular cycles that can be very long when they are not regulated by BC. Of course you can go to a gynecologist if you are worried that you might have PCOS or maybe are pregnant and it's not being picked up by a test.

Thanks to those who have responded

@ChristmasJumpers I'm sorry that you're are in a similar situation because it does really suck. It must be hard trying for 3 years and I know I should be more patient. I think like most women, once you decide to start trying and it doesn't happen immediately all logic goes out of the window and you automatically assume something is wrong 😔 fingers crossed you get your BFP soon.

@CrumchyLeafs thanks, I did consider that but for the last 7 months since coming off birth control I've been so regular and it's just so odd that AF would be late for the first time on the first month we start TTC. It's frustrating because I just want to start another cycle of trying already! But you could be right I might have just been lucky for the last 6 months!

My periods went from being regular as clockwork to all over the place when I was ttc. I think it was the stress of it all! Made me think I was pregnant every month and then would start.

I wouldn’t go to docs as they want you to miss a few periods before they do anything. I think it’s 3-6 months.

@HRHXO I was on the pill for 12 years, came off in January and my cycle has lengthened which some months has made me some days ‘late’ but I think my body has just been adjusting. I’ve gone from 27 days to now settling at about 32. If you’ve been having regular sex throughout your cycle this isn’t your first month … it’s just your first active tracking month so I wouldn’t read too much into that. There are stories on here of no BFP until a few weeks late. Good luck!

It could be annovulation perhaps? once had s 60 day cycle (basically skipped a month) it never happened again after that. It was just a strange blip.
