We're cycle buddies 👍 how long have you been ttc?

jazmine38 · 16/12/2021 12:16

@AmberRH1993 miscarriage at 8 weeks April this year kept going and had a chemical pregnancy in July about 5 weeks literally 3 days after 2nd covid jab. Gave myself a break and started again this month. This is why I'm torturing myself about this booster..how about you? Xx

AmberRH1993 · 16/12/2021 12:32

@jazmine38 My son is 2 and we have started ttc for number 2 - this is my first natural month off the contraceptive pill. I got my bpf after 1 cycle off the pill with DS so let's see what this time around will bring.

EmeraldSpo · 16/12/2021 15:27

Hi all, I'd like to jump on please, you all seem so lovely and supportive of one another.

Currently on cycle 1 TTC since my miscarriage at 10 weeks in October. We fell pregnant first time that cycle, as I have also done with my 2 year old daughter and the pregnancy before her that also ended in miscarriage. I feel quite sheepish admitting I fall pregnant easily, but if I'm honest it's driving me a bit nuts. I can't relax and just think "oh it's ok I'm probably not" and get on with life. I'm symptom spotting and test collecting like a mad woman. I feel so angry too - I should have been 16 weeks pregnant right now. I shouldn't have to be starting again.

But hey ho - anyway I am due my period 21st. Cycles are about 26 days and I ovulated around day 10-12. Only use CM to predict ovulation. Very grateful to find this thread, and hoping for BFPs all around xx

jazmine38 · 16/12/2021 16:50

Welcome @EmeraldSpo really sorry to hear about your loss. I know the heartache it causes and I feel your pain. My baby would have been born at the beginning of this month.
I symptom spot too it's really hard not to. Have you done any tests? I can't bare the is it/isn't it early tests so I'm trying to hold out as long as I can. Baby dust to you and everyone yet to test 😇

madeleine85 · 16/12/2021 17:16

@Natalie2304 so sorry (and it is totally understandable) that you are feeling down. Sometimes I find that focusing on the next thing takes the pressure off. 2022 gives a fresh start, and you should be right at that FW at the start i'm guessing. Hoping the next one is your cycle.

@Shortmamashortcycles oh no, that is the worst news! Glad you got a chance to DTD before Covid struck. Hope you are feeling better soon, and that the symptoms don't last long/aren't bad.

@AmberRH1993 sounds very promising, fingers crossed for you. I'm 4 DPO, AF so far seems to arrive around the 11 day mark, so another week to wait it out/drive myself demented.

@EmeraldSpo welcome, and sticky baby dust to you for this cycle, hoping that this is the time lucky for you x

AmberRH1993 · 16/12/2021 17:19

Welcome @EmeraldSpo.. Lovely to have you here for this roller-coaster journey together ❤️ sorry for your loss - I can only imagine how difficult it is to start again 😞

@EmeraldSpo yes it is frustrating starting the TWW not knowing how it will turn out.
I'm trying to hold out a few days testing to wait for a clearer result. I had a chemical pregnancy the cycle before we conceived my son and I know how awful it is to see that bfp disappear ♥️

madeleine85 · 16/12/2021 17:45

I just read that my 10/11 day luteal phase is a bad thing as there isn't enough time for hormones to rise and create successful implantation. I wasn't aware of this at all. I am reading that vitamin C/B6 can help. Has anyone had any experience with this? I am assuming that my cycle was the same when I successfully got pregnant 2 years ago, but who really knows. I was optimistically googling in the hope that a shorter luteal would give quicker implanation only to get a firm slap down.

Shortmamashortcycles · 16/12/2021 18:17

@madeleine85, don't worry, I have a 10/11 luteal phase and it's not stopped me getting pregnant. B complex, Vit C and vitex will all help to lengthen it a bit, but in my experience, only by a day. The theory is that they help to boost progesterone which is what your body needs to maintain the lining before AF.

My general view is that a shorter luteal phase means you might get unlucky on a couple of cycles where the egg implants late, but as late implantation has higher chances of miscarriage, in some ways it might mean only the best beans stick.

madeleine85 · 16/12/2021 18:31

@Shortmamashortcycles thank you, that actually does make me feel better. I always read these things and spiral into worst case scenarios. I was about to run out of work and get vitamins in sheer desperation lol. Maybe I can abandon the panic stations and stop being so neurotic

ExPatHereForAChat · 16/12/2021 18:38

@madeleine85 I've had a short luteal phase for the last few months as I've been breastfeeding.
It was 7 days after my first period, next month 8 days, next month 9 days, next month 10 days and this month I fell pregnant!
So can only assume this month would have been 10 or 11 days.
I was worried about it by kept reading how specialists didn't think it posed much of an issue.

Shortmamashortcycles · 16/12/2021 18:48

@madeleine85, I'm usually the neurotic one so don't worry, I went down that road!

I've had a bit of bleeding before every BFP, so I imagine my uterus going, "ok lads, time for the monthly clear out... off we go... what? What's that you say? Oh crikey EVERYONE STOP. STOP, THERE'S A BABY IN HERE!"

🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Nico89 · 16/12/2021 18:50

@madeleine85 ive managed to lengthen mine by a day max 2 by taking vitamins C and B vitamin complex. However my luteal phase has always been around 10 or 11 days and I previously have had a successful pregnancy

madeleine85 · 16/12/2021 19:26

Thanks so much ladies! Also @ExPatHereForAChat huge contratulations on your BFP. Hope it is going well so far! I read your name and was like I should have used that :). I'm in sunny LA with an american husband, but miss my rainy homeland/home friends.

@Shortmamashortcycles lol to your description, interesting to know how it went for you though. I had a DD who just turned 2, who was a complete surprise until week 6, all I remember was a little cramping and thinking AF was coming, then promptly forgetting about it, so I'm just hoping my cycles are the same as they were back then (which I have no idea what they were as I wasnt TTC), and that I can do this again without too much trying.

@Nico89 I think I am going to start upping my vitamin C intake/B6. I already have a 100% daily intake from prenatals, but I think the recommended dose to extend luteal is more.

Squiff70 · 16/12/2021 20:56

A notice to EVERYONE, but especially in relation to @BabyBird20 with regards to having your booster when there's a chance you may have conceived, only you can decide that. What I will say is that I had my 3rd vaccine - which is double the dose of the booster - last Friday and was pretty unwell all weekend. On Sunday I realised I was pregnant. When I went for the jab they did ask if I could be pregnant and of course I said there was a chance as we were trying. I was given a leaflet but wasn't given time to read it all before my jab. My advice is to Google the Royal College of Midwives and 'Covid vaccine' - it'll bring up no-nonsense articles which you need to take time to read in order to make an informed decision before your scheduled appointment.

In a big way I'm glad I had my 3rd vax when I did because the decision is taken out of my hands now for another three months (then I'll need a booster) but I'll (hopefully) be 15 weeks then - it'll be a a tricky choice but I'll take whatever guidance is available to me at that time.

It is vital to remind you, as I am sure you already know, that there are a lot of unvaccinated pregnant women in intensive care with Covid and many are very, very seriously ill. I won't and can't advise you on what to do because ultimately only you can decide what is best for you. But, knowledge is power and although there's a lot we don't know yet, there's also a lot we DO know.

13DPO here and AF very nearly arrived. I’m certain tomorrow will be CD1 which would be fine except… it’s another short cycle as AF isn’t due until Sunday.

Meaning…

In my next cycle we will now be staying with the PILs across my updated fertile week… and DH point blank refuses to DTD in their home - we won’t be alone for a minute.

I’m fucking gutted.

Fertile week was supposed to be the days in the run up to NYE, when we would be at home.

Another wasted month.

And I got a letter from the fertility clinic with all the tests I have to take.

I feel stupid for even thinking I would get pregnant one day, when events conspire against me and my shitty cycle throws me a curve ball EVERY MONTH (e.g. two months ago I got a surprise ovulation at CD9, meaning I was caught on the hop and it’d have been an immature egg anyway).

I am so angry and fed up with my stupid body.

@lottieb92 so sorry bout your BFN this morning. I really had everything crossed for you, and I still do. If not in a few days then soon, my TTC friend :) Enjoy your HUSBAND's birthday tomorrow - Happy Birthday to him!

@Shortmamashortcycles so so so sorry you've tested positive for Covid - you and many many many thousands of others today. Scares me bloody senseless, it does. I really hope you're ok and only have (comparatively) mild, short-lasting symptoms. Get well soon Flowers

Still keeping everything crossable crossed for you @AmberRH1993!

@OK92 I'm sorry about the spotting. Is it definitely AF? Also @Natalie2304 - really hoping you get your BFP soon, lovely!

Hi and a huge welcome to you @EmeraldSpo. So very sorry for your recent loss and previous loss, I am devastated for you. Like Amber said, I can only imagine how hard it to is to start over after ten weeks of pregnancy. I hope you get your BFP very soon and feel free to reach out here Flowers

@madeleine85 I'm not the best person to advise on luteal phase I'm afriad. What I know about LP could probably be written on the back of a postage stamp. I hope you get some answers soon x

@ExPatHereForAChat congratulations! Do you mind me asking where you're residing as an ex-pat?

Baby dust to all xx

Thank you @Squiff70 everyday so far I've had cramps and aches - today with shooting cramps on the lower left side so 🤞 I don't wanna get carried away thinking its pregnancy symptoms when my body may just be adjusting after the pill. Better to be safe than sorry I'd say 😉

jazmine38 · 16/12/2021 22:32

@AmberRH1993 cycle buddies and shooting pain buddies too. Though mine are on the lower right side

@Squiff70 didn't get the booster Wednesday but defo getting it tomorrow. At least I have the weekend off to recover.

AmberRH1993 · 16/12/2021 22:34

@jazmine38 before we started ttc, I did all my health admin to get it out of the way and be better ready for when pregnancy happened - smear test etc.

When are you testing?

jazmine38 · 16/12/2021 22:50

@AmberRH1993 I want to wait till Tuesday but am thinking I'll probably test Sunday 🤞 have you any symptoms? At this stage of my cycle I'm normally craving chocolate but the thought of it makes me feel sick. And sore boobs but that could be either pms or pregnancy. That was good you did the health checks x
