Hi everyone! So my partner and I will soon TTC. He is 13 years older than me and he soon will turn 43. Anyone’s partner also in their 40s managed to get them pregnant quickly? Just read some very stressful articles online 😭😢

My husband was a little over 43 when I conceived. It happened within 3-4 months of me coming off the pill.

I was 44, ds's dad was 53. We weren't actually trying Blush

Dh 46 and managed very well indeed.

Megan2018 · 04/11/2021 18:34

I was 40, DH 45 and happened easily. We were 42 and 46 at birth.
Paternal age is linked to autism though so it’s not without additional risk.

Much more likely than not at that age......

As long as he's on a healthy balanced diet, no (minimal) smoking and alcohol, his sperm will thank you later.

Halo

My partner was 50 when we conceived. Got pregnant straight away.

It might be a good idea to ask him to take a good multivitamin if he isn't already, and stop smoking/drinking.

Fairly recent research says that the quality of the man's sperm has a lot to do with whether your child has mental health issues later on. Sperm quality starts to degrade from age 35 and men over 40 are more likely to have children with health issues, so ideally his own health will be really good before you conceive.
